recognize comments would complicate the dependency scanner so much
that it would undoubtedly introduce more bugs than it solves.

and then repeating the test under gdb. That might show the offending
line of source code.
To dump each packet before it's analyzed, use -v. The last one
shown before the core dump will be the interesting one.

DGifSlurp() reading of interlaced images has been fixed in the giflib repo.
The fix will ship in the upcoming 5.0 version.

I had said I wasn't going to fix this, but the fix happened naturally
as the result of some recent improvements in support for extension
records.
It's in the giflib repository head now. It will ship in the upcoming
5.0 release.

Interested, and, in fact, I think they're already fixed in my masters.
