I installed jessie xfce4 amd64 in my box (acer aspire 5100 wmli)
and all works fine exept hibernate and suspend.
I read several bug reports on the topic (for instance #746439) and
I tried the proposed aid :
Problem solved.
I have edited the file /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf and I wrote
in that file: options snd-hda-intel model=acer
I used these link: http://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/audio_intel_hda
It's in French language but the useful informations are in the arrays.
Now I use squeeze (instead of sid)

I have removed and reinstall a lot of files : printconf, python-foomatic
and I removed the directory:
/usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/reportlab/ before reinstalling and
after that the dangling symlinks disappeared and the installation of
python

I installed linux-image-2.6.32-5-686.
All works fine except the sound :
alsamixer doesn't give the option CD and cdcd works but no sound.
