Hello

I don't yet understand all the above, but I, too, was puzzled when my
beeping scripts went silent.

Which versions exactly? The 0.9 versions, or where some 0.8.14 or 0.8.16
version of compiz-reloaded work?

Samuel

I am not exactly sure. I have just looked at
http://snapshot.debian.org/package/compiz/ and I am a bit confused by
the chronology. I have only ever installed from the repository and
updated when prompted. I could install an older version from a snapshot.

A working version was fairly recent, the last few months.

Mmm :/

Just to rule factors out, what is your software desktop? Just MATE with
the BlackMATE theme?

Samuel

Yes. Unmodified Sid, with MATE and BlackMATE theme. Previous versions of
Compiz from the repository would work for me somewhat, not perfectly,
but now not at all.

I am very interested in getting Compiz working, so let me know if there
is anything else useful I can tell you.

I am currently using Marco, the MATE window manager, with Compton for
compositing, and all is smooth and stable.

Hello

I solved that problem by putting gtk-window-decorator --metacity-theme
BlackMATE as decorator command. Latterly it worked with compiz-decorator
--replace. But now I have a much bigger problem. With the latest version
in Sid, 2:0.8.16.1-3, Compiz does not work for me at all. In that the
desktop is not drawn properly, with blocks of colour and strange
artifacts all over.

This version of get-iplayer is working OK for me. I use it every day.
I just downloaded this file (Andy's Baby Animals - Hiding) to test.

I can't find --vmode in the manpage; there is a --tvmode.

Bug#855132: compiz: Compiz update reset defaults

2017-02-14 Thread Hugh Morris
Package: compiz
Version: 1:0.9.13.0+16.10.20160818.2-5
Severity: normal

Hi

The recent Compiz update reset my CompizConfig defaults.
It was OK because I had my preferences backed up.
But I don't think that should happen.

Regards

Bug#854718: mate-desktop: MATE and Compiz

2017-02-09 Thread Hugh Morris
Package: mate-desktop
Version: 1.16.1-1
Severity: normal

Hi

I was pleased to see Compiz back in the Debian repositories and installed in
with MATE on Debian Unstable. It is working well for me except for the window
decoration, Which is not from the theme I am using, BlackMATE, (it's the same
with any other theme).

The error messages I am getting are:
compiz (decor) - Warn: failed to bind pixmap to texture
compiz (decor) - Warn: No default decoration found, placement will not be
correct

I opened a bug with Compiz, but they seem to think the problem lies with MATE.

https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=853205

Can you take a look at it and maybe say what you think the problem is. Debian +
MATE + Compiz is the perfect combination for me.

Bug#853205: (no subject)

2017-01-30 Thread Hugh Morris
Subject: compiz: Window Decoration Problem
Package: compiz
Version: 1:0.9.13.0+16.10.20160818.2-4
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

I, too, was surprised and pleased to see Compiz back in the Debian repositories.
I have installed it on a Debian Unstable installation with MATE on a fairly old
AMD64 desktop system with a nvidia GeForce 6200 video card with the nvidia
driver.

The problem I am having is with the window decorations. Decorations do appear,
but they are not the normal ones for the theme I am using (BlackMATE).
It's the same with any other theme.

The error messages I am getting are:
compiz (decor) - Warn: failed to bind pixmap to texture
compiz (decor) - Warn: No default decoration found, placement will not be
correct

gtk-window-decorator is running.

I used Compiz for years in the past, so I am quite familiar with it and CCSM.

Can you give me a clue to help me fix this? I would be very grateful.
