For me leafpad aborted instantly with a segfault due to a corrupted .config/leafpad/leafpadrc file. Take a look at it and if it looks like garbage, then there you go, delete the file and voila leafpad works again :). I guess leafpad should autodetect bad data coming from the rc file.
