Bug#797159: twinkle: 1.9.0 compiles and works on sid too

2015-11-02 Thread Jan Hetges
Package: twinkle
Followup-For: Bug #797159

Hi there,
after having been using twinkle for quite a while and missing it since
squeeze I just figured that it's packaged again :) and then figured
it's cli only :(.
Writing a bug report I then found this thread and downloaded twinkle
1.9.0, too. Didn't manage to package it but it compiles, installs and
seems to run just fine.

Bug#801836: linux-image-4.2.0-1-686-pae:[brcmfmac] wifi reconnects every 22 seconds or so

2015-10-14 Thread Jan Hetges
Package: src:linux
Version: 4.2.3-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

I'm using an ASUS X205TA with SDIO Broadcom 43341. It uses binary
firmware blob from
https://android.googlesource.com/platform/hardware/broadcom/wlan/+archive/master/bcmdhd/firmware/bcm43341.tar.gz
It works fine in
4.1.0-2-686-pae (debian-ker...@lists.debian.org) #1 SMP Debian 4.1.6-1
(2015-08-23)
This problem started in an earlier version of 4.2 and is also present in
4.2.3 and 4.3-rc5 from kernel.org.

Bug#609828: empathy: killing child processes on quit

2011-01-12 Thread Jan Hetges
Package: empathy
Version: 2.30.3-1
Severity: wishlist

since some issue with my internet connection two days ago
empathy showed Network error for both google talk and facebook
chat while they both worked otherwise (web browser and/or pidgin).
tcpdump didn't show any related traffic when clicking Reconnect.
mission-control debug output suggested:
request_connection_cb: RequestConnection failed: Name
'org.freedesktop.Telepathy.Connection.gabble.jabber.jan_2ehetges_40chat_2efacebook_2ecom_2f8c6998f0'
already in use by this process.
restarting empathy didn't help. killing telepathy-mission-control-5
didn't help either. what finally did help was killing mission-control,
telepathy-gabbler and telepathy-salut.
and i think it is generally a good idea to kill all child processes upon quit!
thank you for your consideration.

downgrading to 2.22.1-4 fixes this issue(s).

Bug#519856: gnome-power-manager: does not act on power button nor lid switch

2009-03-15 Thread Jan Hetges
Package: gnome-power-manager
Version: 2.24.4-1
Followup-For: Bug #519856

neither the upgrade nor the downgrade _alone_ change the former
woring/non working state, the next reboot does. e.g. 2.22.1-4 works,
upgrade to 2.24.4-1 ... still works, suspend/resume ... still works,
reboot ... doesn't work anymore, downgrade to 2.22.1-4 ... still doesn't
work ... reboot ... works again.

 cheers

Bug#441772: gcompris: self learning klick on a letter

Package: gcompris
Version: 8.3.2-1
Severity: wishlist

Hi
i'm currently using gcompris for teaching to read and write to older
children and adults in rural nicaragua. they went some years to primary
school, but forgot a lot (so mostly they have problems with particular
letters) .
What would be really nice, if it could be self-learning, something
like:
if LETTER selected correct count +1
if count=config_variable_bla (default=3? 4? 5?)
then don't use LETTER anymore in this session
thanks

Sorry to hear about your hard drive.

Unfortunately, it seems that the mail never did reach me. I noticed you
had mistyped my address in your previous mail -- perhaps the same thing
 happened with your bug reply?

no, in the bug reply i did't type your address ;-)

Anyway, do you have any memory of what you tried and how it worked out?

not too much memory :-(, i tried a lot, what in the end seemd to solve
the issue, was this link i created:
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 28 2007-04-14 00:05 /etc/sasl/smtpd.conf -
/etc/postfix/sasl/smtpd.conf

Could you try to reproduce your setup and see if the bug is still there?

sorry, but it's productive now. So the only thing i tried was removing
that link... and i can't reproduce the bug anymore.
the versions:
sasl2-bin: Source: cyrus-sasl2 Version: 2.1.22.dfsg1-8
postfix: Source: postfix (2.3.8-2) Version: 2.3.8-2+b1
everything chrooted but: proxymap, local, virtual, lmtp, anvil and some
interfaces to non postfix software.

so maybe you just close the bug
and you might change the subject to:
saslauthd with postfix broken after upgrade from sarge

Perhaps you had some incompatible setup left from the sarge version?
Having the following contents in /etc/postfix/sasl/smtpd.conf does
  activate saslauthd password checking:

  pwcheck_method: saslauthd

  Could you check the following:

* Do you really mean smtp.conf and not smtpd.conf? (The former
being for this server to authenticate against another server,
the latter being for a client to authenticate against this
  server.)
* Do you run some (or all) postfix servers chrooted? (Look at the
fifth column in /etc/postfix/master.cf for each service.)
* What version of saslauthd?
* What version of postfix?
* Any special options set in /etc/default/saslauthd? (You can
attach the whole file if you want.)
I am wondering if you have been able to check any of the things that
Fabian suggested. It would be helpful to us and to other users who
encounter this problem if you could help us track this down.

sorry, had some problems, hardisk of my notebook died, didn't have

2007-04-14 Thread Jan Hetges
Package: saslauthd

Severity: normal

Hi
i just upgraded from sarge to stable and saslauth stopped
working :(
after following the steps in /usr/share/doc/sasl2-bin/README.Debian
it still didn't work :(
after reading http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=388562
i just did
mkdir /etc/sasl
ln -sf /etc/postfix/sasl/smtp.conf /etc/sasl/smtp.conf
...and it works again

 worked again.

Excellent! This confirms my suspicion about this actually being a
postfix error. Postfix should be setting the plugin configuration path
to /etc/postfix/sasl, but for some reason it doesn't.

Postfix has a new version which should fix this issue: 2.3.4-3, which is
in unstable now. I'm closing this bug (merging it with the postfix bugs
would just add more clutter, so I'm not doing that).

looks like it is _not_ fixed in postfix in stable :(

Please note that the correct location for smtpd.conf
*is* /etc/postfix/sasl as documented -- but that will only work once you
install the fixed postfix. Your current setup will break when postfix is
fixed, so keep your eyes open when upgrading postfix!

so keep your eyes open when upgrading from sarge to etch ;)
