Bug#920498: os-prober generates jessy entry with bad UUID

2019-01-26 Thread Joachim Schmidt

Dear Maintainer,

os-prober generates an incorrect entry for old debian (jessie) partition.

I run update-grub some times with always the same result.
If I change the UUID in the linux line to 28cc.. then I can boot.

Bug#886727: nouveau: no desktop on nvidia NVS 310 card on DELL precision 7810

2018-01-10 Thread Joachim Schmidt

Hi Sven,

Package: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau
Version: 1:1.0.15-2
Severity: important
File: nouveau

Dear Maintainer,

* installed testing version parallel (stable version runs well)
* no display will be shown - terminal goes into standby

Before or after X starts? Does it work when you use the stretch kernel
on testing?
it's also if I start recovery mode - some lines are displayed and then
terminal goes into standby.

stretch kernel into testing will take some time (I just don't know how)

VGA-compatible devices on PCI bus:
--
03:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: NVIDIA Corporation GF119 [NVS 310]
[10de:107d] (rev a1)

Probably that is https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=103421,
but a kernel log would be useful to be sure. Can you find a backtrace
in /var/log/kern.log?

I think you are right, I attach kernel.log

Thanks
Joachim

Bug#804150: gnome-flashback: windows move very slowly

2015-11-10 Thread Joachim Schmidt

Hi Alberts Muktupāvels,

this is not very useful... Please try to provide more info so we can
understand what is going on.
I try to move a window to an other position on screen with left mouse
button down. The window takes several seconds to reach the new position.
There are no intermediate mouse positions lost.

Thats, what I meant with "the window follows very slowly the mouse"

1) What video card do you have / video drivers?

Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] RV370 [Radeon X300]

2) Do you have same problem when you disable compositing manager?:
gsettings set org.gnome.metacity compositing-manager false

yes

3) Which version was last that did not have this problem?

stable Version - jessie I switched a few days ago

4) Do you have this problem only with server side decorations
(gnome-terminal) and/or also with csd windows (nautilus)?

no, with terminal, with nautilus, with every window

Joachim

Bug#804150: gnome-flashback: windows move very slowly

Hi Dmitry,

window moves very slowly means: it can not follow my mouse moves

You filed this bug against gnome-flashback package. It is a helper application
for the Flashback session, and it has nothing to do with windows moving.

It may be an issue with Metacity (the default WM used in GNOME Flashback), but
I wanted you to test a different WM to check if the issue is specific to
Metacity. Mutter uses a similar codebase to is a good choice to test with.

now I understand and tryed: yes, this is special to Metacity, with
"mutter --replace" the terminal windows moves as expected.

Bug#804150: gnome-flashback: windows move very slowly

Dear Maintainer,

"every" window moves very slowly by mouse move on my Intel 2-core machine. This
is only in flashback mode.

Does this problem occur when you use a different window manager, i.e. install
mutter and run “mutter --replace” command?

I do not have to switch to an other window manager, it's enough to
switch to "classic" or "normal" gnome mode. This problem only occur in
"flashback" mode.

window moves very slowly means: it can not follow my mouse moves

on the localhost p.e. Remmina.
Sesman runs right and on the then appearing desktop this message is

Bug#779328: grub-coreboot-bin: takes very long tim to show bootmenu from compressed (zlib) btrfs partition

2015-02-27 Thread Joachim Schmidt
Package: grub-coreboot-bin
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

I changed my system partition to btrfs compressed (zlib). If the bootmenu comes
from this partition it takes a long time ( 30 s) to show the bootmenu. After
that waiting time all is OK.

My solution: a little extra partition with ext2 and using of
mount -t ext2 /dev/sdaX /media/grub2
grub-install --root-directory=/media/grub2 /dev/sda
grub-mkconfig -o /media/grub2/boot/grub/grub.cfg

With that change the timing is normal.

I created a btrfs partition with btrfs-convert from ext4.
This partition can not be cloned with gparted to other disk because btrfschk is
unsuccessful.
A btrfs check --repair /dev/sdXX does not help.

Bug#707058: os-prober: os-prober makes different UUID's in same menuentry of a partition

2013-05-07 Thread Joachim Schmidt
Package: grub-common
Version: 1.99-27+deb7u1
Severity: important
File: os-prober

Dear Maintainer,

I was cloning a squeeze partition (- wheezy upgrade) in my testing machine.
First with gparted and later also with tune2fs I changed the UUID of that
partition and started update-grub (with os-prober active) in an other wheezy
partition to make this cloned partition bootable. A boot of the cloned squeeze
was not possible and in grub.cfg (in wheezy) I found an entry for this
partition with two different UUID's: first (in search line) the new and second
(in linux line) the old one. Changing the UUID of the cloned partition only
effected the first entry.
So I went to other computer with this partion (without an other partition with
this UUID), put the old UUID in the partition and after update-grub I could
boot cloned squeeze.

Thank You
Joachim

Hi,

Does it work if you install Eclipse XML Editors and Tools from
http://download.eclipse.org/releases/galileo/ under the category Web,
XML, and Java EE Development via eclipse's own plugin installer?

now - with your help (Sun JDK) - I could install Eclipse XML Editors
and Tools, but no changes.
