> Could you please enable it in the next upload? Thanks!

Unfortunately, Debian treat Haskell libraries as development code, and
the option --enable-executable-dynamic works only when development files
are also installed.

I have instead added loong64 to the list of low-memory architectures,
which means these options are applied:
--ghc-options="-optc--param -optcggc-min-expand=10 -O0"
Hopefully that is enough for the build for loong64 succeeds.

Kind regards,

 - Jonas

Bug#1008016: ITP: safe-network -- network routing and service daemon for the Safe Network

2024-04-20 Thread Jonas Smedegaard
Release 0.106.0-alpha.1 succesfully builds as an unofficial draft package,
embedding 30 crates (21 missing, 4 outdated, 5 ahead)
which needs to be packaged before this can officially enter Debian.
The built binary runs and seems to work from a brief test use.

Main task now is packaging remaining missing Rust crates.

Here's how you can help:

As user running Debian, you can test this draft package: Either build it
yourself from source or tell (by posting to this bugreport) if you
prefer testing the binary that I've built - then I will share that.

As developer (any developer: you need not be official member of Debian!)
you can join the Debian Rust team and help package these missing crates:
https://salsa.debian.org/debian/safe-network/-/blob/debian/latest/debian/TODO

If, as the above indicates, this is a Python _library_, then please
avoid occupying the global namespace "uart-devices" but instead also as
source package (not only binary package) use a python-specific prefix.

Concretely, I suggest to use "python-uart-devices" as name for the
source package, since that leaves room for the same source package
providing binary packages for both current major version 3 of Python,
and also other major versions and e.g. versions of pypy.

Git repo are now unentangled. I did so by force-pushing and thereby
overriding most of your previous uncoordinated changes, Jeremy.

Thanks for your contributing, but please coordinate ahead, especially
when introducing new upstream code is involved, since that is
particulary tricky to unentangle.

Kind regards,

Bug#1069163: Acknowledgement (libkf5kmanagesieve5: sends password as username when authenticating against sieve servers)

2024-04-17 Thread Jonas Schäfer
Hello again,

It seems that this might affect oldstable, too, given that the
problematic code has existed for >8 years upstream:

https://invent.kde.org/pim/libksieve/-/commit/
6572c85975133777c803303331c3bfdcec82eecb

Upstream bugs have been open since May 2021 (oldstable was released in
August 2021):
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=437858

kind regards,

Bug#1069163: libkf5kmanagesieve5: sends password as username when authenticating against sieve servers

2024-04-17 Thread Jonas Schäfer
Package: libkf5kmanagesieve5
Version: 4:22.12.3-1
Severity: grave
Tags: security, patch, upstream

Dear Maintainer,

kmail, when using managesieve, sends the password as username to
servers. This is particularly bad because usernames are commonly logged
by servers in plaintext. It thus leaks passwords into server-side
plaintext logs e.g. with dovecot.

This seems to have been fixed upstream:
https://invent.kde.org/pim/libksieve/-/commit/
6b460ba93ac4ac503ba039d0b788ac7595120db1

Please consider a backport of that patch or updating the package
quickly.

Thank you.

Bug#1064145: ITP: sdml -- CLI for Simple Domain Modeling Language

2024-04-16 Thread Jonas Smedegaard
Git snapshot 20240201 succesfully builds as an unofficial draft package,
embedding 3 missing crates
which needs to be packaged before this can officially enter Debian.

What a neat little tool. I have needed this many times over the years.

One thing that I would want, which seems within the scope of this tiny
tool: An option to specify which MIME type to look for, with default
being the currently hardcoded text/plain.

This option would allow me to extract emails containing text/calendar
content, as well as dummy empty text/plain content.

I am happy that gnulib is in good hands.

I've moved on to other challenges, and have no interest in working on

  Programming Lang: Rust
Description : block or poll on event_listener easily

 event-listener-strategy provides a strategy
 for using the event-listener crate
in both blocking and non-blocking contexts.
 .
One of the stand-out features of the event-listener crate
is the ability to use it in both asynchronous and synchronous contexts.
However, sometimes using it like this
causes a lot of boilerplate to be duplicated.
This crate aims to reduce that boilerplate
 by providing an EventListenerFuture trait
that implements both blocking and non-blocking functionality.

This package is needed for newer releases of src:rust-async-lock and
src:rust-async-channel.
It will be maintained in the collaborative Debian section of Salsa, at
https://salsa.debian.org/debian/rust-event-listener-strategy

make function $(shell ...) *inside* a make target effectively spawns a
shell within another shell, and *that* you rarely really want.

What Petter is talking about above is that "TEMPFILE=mktemp", because it
is a make target (i.e. on a TAB-indented line) is passed to a shell,
which will *not* set TEMPFILE to the output of the shell command mktemp,
but simply set TEMPFILE to the _string_ "mktemp" which is unlikely that
you want.

Ah, make sense.

No need for apology.

Looking again, I don't think my suggested change is sensible after all:
Might fail to work for a totally clean system where the needed paths are
not created yet and assigned appropriate access rights. I haven't
tested that, just stared a the logic of the code...

Yes, it is tricky to get the access rights in order. I am not in the
mood to try guide you there, as I might very well make mistakes in that,
just remember that it indeed tricky. I am pretty confident that it
works correctly as it is packaged, and also pretty confident that it is
possible to reconfigure - but then you are on your own about making the
right amount of layers of directories, accessible for the init system
and for the inner code spawned by the daome, without leaking access to
local filesystem users.

So it looks like the only part left of your patch is setting log path in
init script.

I am hesitant doing that: I seem to recall that it requires custom
configuration - that systemd and sysv setups cannot share same default
logging configuration, and I therefore chose to provide a working
default setup only for systemd.

This might actually have changed again with the very newest release of
Radicale that I released earlier today.

It would be helful if you could double-check using newest package and
with *only* the init script change, leaving all other settings at their
defaults and with no prior Radicale-related files created on the system
- and then check if the logging works as intended.

Thanks for the proposed patch.
Unfortunately it does not apply to the Debian package.
Please provide a patch against the Debian package (not Devuan).

Also, nothing else in the Debian packaging messes with the path
"$dir/collection-root" - that is left for Radicale itself to handle.
Can you please test if adequate to replace the 3 instances of
"$dir/collections" with "$dir" instead?

Kind regards,

> astroidmail, Can I go ahead?

Technically you are trying to adopt the *source* package astroid, which
is unambiguously expressed with prefix as src:astroid - you are not
trying to adopt the *binary* package astroid. That's the root of the
confusion.

That said, yes, please go ahead - thanks for your interest in adopting
packages, and sorry for my part in the confusion¹

Please - in addition to (not as a precondition) and only as a
suggestion, consider renaming the package src:astroid to
src:python-astroid, so as to eliminate future confusions between
src:astroid (providing binary package python3-astroid) and
src:astroidmail (providing binary package astroid).

Kind regards,

 - Jonas

¹ I introduced the binary package astroid, unaware at the time of the
confusion, and (as I recall) when made aware of the potential for
confusion I insisting on keeping the name: I considered it more helpful
for our users that we rename the source package of a library than to
rename the binary package of a user-facing binary package to something
unaligned with the actual binary executable. The former maintainer
disagreed with me, leading to the current situation.

As you write yourself, librust-async-std-dev depends on
librust-async-io-2+default-dev which is missing from loong64:

https://buildd.debian.org/status/package.php?p=rust-async-io

The problem is not in src:rust-async-std but in the (build of)
src:rust-async-io.

Hope that helps.

Hi Sandro,

I don't quite follow what is going in here:

It seems that you are orphaning a package maintained by someone else
than yourself, out of the blue, without explaining why and without
prior coordination with those maintaining the package?

What am I missing here?

Kind regards,

 - Jonas

If the command-line tool does somewhat the same as the existing one, I
suggest to rename it with the deviating part as the end instead, so that
users TAB-completing would easier notice the alternative:

* Package name: sdml
  Version : 0.2.7
  Upstream Contact: Simon Johnston
* URL : https://github.com/sdm-lang/rust-sdml
* License : Apache-2.0
  Programming Lang: Rust
Description : CLI tool for Simple Domain Modeling Language

 sdml is a command-line tool
that provides functionality to process SDML files.
The Simple Domain Modeling Language (SDML) is
 a small data-oriented language
 for constructing, documenting, and reasoning
 about a conceptual domain model.
 The SDML language comprises:
  * a semantic model
whose structure and semantics are described
in RDF by an OWL ontology
  * a surface syntax for editing and sharing model artifacts
  * a constraint language to capture model invariants
not covered by the data descriptions in the surface syntax
 .
Resource Description Framework (RDF) is a standard model
for data interchange on the Web.
 .
The Web Ontology Language (OWL) is
a family of knowledge representation languages
 for authoring ontologies.

This package will be maintained in the collaborative Debian section of
Salsa, at <https://salsa.debian.org/debian/sdml>.

Ohhh, of course. Sorry to have bothered you instead of checking beyond
the bugreport itself.

The above seems like a failure not in tailspin but in librust-eyre-dev.

Bug#1063784: rust-tower-http: fails to build its provided source

2024-02-12 Thread Jonas Smedegaard
Source: rust-tower-http
Version: 0.4.4-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA512

The package fails to build its provided source:

error[E0432]: unresolved import `mime::MimeIter`
   -->
/<>/debian/cargo_registry/tower-http-0.4.4/src/validate_request.rs:118:18
|
118 | use mime::{Mime, MimeIter};
| no `MimeIter` in the root

I notice that the package source includes a patch to relax dependency
on the crate mime >= 0.3.17, and I notice that the *only* difference
upstream between 0.3.16 and 0.3.17 apparently is the addition of
MimeIter: https://github.com/hyperium/mime/commit/2370800

I don't understand: Seems to me that Cargo dependencies are fine (and
also that they are irrelevant for the architectures currently supporting
cargo in Debian).

> rust-isahc - Jonas package, not investigated, not in testing.

Please ignore: Let that break and I will fix it.

Done.
