Bug#741934: live-build: support for making the contents of the cache directory softlinks
Package: live-build Version: 3.0.5-1 Severity: wishlist Tags: patch Dear Maintainer, I'm trying to do multiple live builds in parallel. To not use excessive amounts of diskspace I'm using links to share the cache directory. In the chroot stage that fails, since the copied links in the chroot don't point to any accessible location. This problem disappeared after adding the -L option to the find command in the functions/cache.sh script. This is going to introduce problems with the hardlinks in some situations of course. However those seem rare. Do you think you could make that change? Thanks, Jonas Meyer -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Bug#709207: cups: Duplex printing from ios6 via airprint doesn't work
Package: cups Version: 1.5.3-5 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer, I set up a OKI B430dn printer, using OKIs PPD. The printer is connected via Ethernet to the LAN. I enabled sharing of the printer an Internet sharing and the printer popped up in the Print Menu of my iPod running the latest version of iOS6. Single Sided Printing works exactly as expected. But if I enable double Sided Printing I get the very sam output, but the paper takes the extra route through the duplexer. Printing to the PDF file Printer shows, that no empty pages get inserted in the filtering. Looking at the ps file that is to be sent to the printer doesn't show any problems, either. This seems to be true with the latest versions of cups and cups-filters, too. If I send duplex jobs any other way than from iOS everything works as expected. So when I print a duplex job from IOS the duplexer gets activated and the paper travels the extra way through the printer. Instead I'd expect the printer to actually print on both sides. cheers, Jonas Meyer *** End of the template - remove these lines *** -- System Information: Debian Release: jessie/sid APT prefers stable APT policy: (500, 'stable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 3.8-1-amd64 (SMP w/8 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=de_DE.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=de_DE.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages cups depends on: ii adduser3.113+nmu3 ii bc 1.06.95-6 ii cups-client1.5.3-5 ii cups-common1.5.3-5 ii cups-filters 1.0.18-2.1 ii cups-ppdc 1.5.3-5 ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.5.50 ii dpkg 1.16.10 ii ghostscript9.05~dfsg-6.3 ii libavahi-client3 0.6.31-2 ii libavahi-common3 0.6.31-2 ii libc-bin 2.17-1 ii libc6 2.17-1 ii libcups2 1.5.3-5 ii libcupscgi11.5.3-5 ii libcupsimage2 1.5.3-5 ii libcupsmime1 1.5.3-5 ii libcupsppdc1 1.5.3-5 ii libdbus-1-31.6.10-1 ii libgcc11:4.8.0-6 ii libgnutls262.12.20-6 ii libgssapi-krb5-2 1.10.1+dfsg-5 ii libkrb5-3 1.10.1+dfsg-5 ii libldap-2.4-2 2.4.31-1+nmu2 ii libpam0g 1.1.3-9 ii libpaper1 1.1.24+nmu2 ii libslp11.2.1-9 ii libstdc++6 4.8.0-6 ii libusb-1.0-0 2:1.0.15-1 ii lsb-base 4.1+Debian9 ii poppler-utils 0.18.4-6 ii procps 1:3.3.6-1 ii ssl-cert 1.0.32 Versions of packages cups recommends: ii avahi-daemon 0.6.31-2 ii colord 0.1.21-4 ii foomatic-filters 4.0.17-1 ii ghostscript-cups 9.05~dfsg-6.3 ii printer-driver-gutenprint 5.2.9-1 Versions of packages cups suggests: ii cups-bsd 1.5.3-5 ii cups-pdf 2.6.1-9 ii foomatic-db-compressed-ppds [foomatic-db] 20120523-1 ii hplip 3.12.6-3.1 ii printer-driver-hpcups 3.12.6-3.1 ii smbclient 2:3.6.14-1 ii udev 175-7.2 -- debconf information excluded -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Hi OdyX, I don't have another printer readily available - I'll ask around. By any other way I meant printing from locally running programs or from another Computer. Installing the package worked fine and eagle didn't break, though I don't understand where the :i386 package came from. @Jonas: for eagle, the :i386 package is what matters - but in Debian, as a system, we strive for the whole archive to play well with each other for everyone. We're trying to fix the case (as in the original reporter) where someone originally had the 64 bit library installed which prevented them from installing eagle. To fix it, we have to update both the 64 and i386 version of the package. Jonas, could you test this (I don't have an AMD64 system available)? You can email me off list if you'd like detailed instructions on how to build/test this. I'm not exactly sure what it is you want me to test. Bug#672736: removal of eagle
Dear Scott Howard, I'm a student of Electrical Engineering and Eagle is one of the most imprtant tools in the early toolkit. While I'd prefer if Kicad took its place that's just not going to happen. At the very least any time soon. While our Professors wouldn't mind if students used Kicad instead it's just not feasible as the interoperability between Kicad and eagle as far as I know makes teamwork impossible, unless all team members were to switch. About libjpeg62 not being multiarch: in my humble opinion keeping eagle in the archive is reason enough to convert libjpeg62. At least temporarily. If a transition to libpng14 is not an option - please try talking to the people at cadsoft. If I recall correctly the Metzler brothers, authors of vdr are somehow important at cadsoft. They might be understanding about the issues. I hope you can find a way to keep eagle in the archive somehow. regards, Jonas Meyer -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Bug#516983: pidgin: buddy icon can not be overriden
Package: pidgin Version: 2.4.3-4 Severity: wishlist When chatting to some people, they keep changing their buddy icon to images that may be offending. For example they might change it to a picture of them hugging someone else, knowing fully well that you'd very much prefer hugging them yourself. In such cases, or even those where the picture is NSFW it would be great if it could be overriden. What I would like to do is rightclick the picture and select blacklist this and never be bothered with the selected picture while still enjoying what other buddy icons the other user may select. Bug#402365: uswsusp: alive nf7g-hdready maybe works good enough to be white listed
Package: uswsusp Version: 0.7-1 Followup-For: Bug #402365 Hi. The Asrock alive nf7g-hdready mostly supports s2ram. The only problem I'm having is reposting of the console. S2R always works in X. If I do it in the console switching VTs to X and back will bring back the text. This board has a nvidia nforce 630a chipset with onboard geforce 7050. I tried doing what the README.s2ram-whitelist suggests. While I had the repost video option enabled in the bios I tried all the listed s2ram commands without -v and a few with -v. All of them didn't show any output on resume but could be recovered by switching to X and back. Then I disabled the repost video option in the bios and disabled X. I gave it a few tries, but soon stopped because without X running there was no text and I assumed that if there is no text to save it's impossible to judge if it worked. I also tried if the vga16fb module makes a difference - it doesn't. All in all I think this works good enough to be white listed by default. The s2ram -i output is: sys_vendor = To Be Filled By O.E.M. sys_product = To Be Filled By O.E.M. sys_version = To Be Filled By O.E.M. bios_version = P1.90 I'd be glad to do some more testing If there is anything you want me to try. Bug#455884: xserver-xorg-video-vesa: xserver+system crashes on via p4m900
Package: xserver-xorg-video-vesa Severity: important I just tried to help someone on irc with that chipset. From what he said I understood that his whole system crashes as soon as the xserver quits. His initial problem description was my laptop doesn't swtch off when I shut it down. In ubuntu the bug is #163192. The xserver-xorg-video-via package didn't work for him at all (lenny). Unfortunately he left shortly before he could try the openchrome package from ubuntu's universe rebuilt for lenny. But I'd expect that to work. Thanks. If I create a new imap folder foo in evolution all mails I put in there will be tagged foo. But if I create a new tag in the web interface or some other mailclient evolution won't display the new folder unless I quit and restart evolution several times. It's pretty much unpredictable when an imap folder will be added or deleted in the evolution view. Icedove updates the view everytime send/receive mail is clicked. Bug#449327: evolution: contacts cell width has offensive results in german
Package: evolution Version: 2.12.0-2 Severity: minor I just imported my pidgin contacts to evolution and was very confused to read that everybody was called a Voller Narr. It took me some time to figure out that this is a result of the cell width and it was supposed to be Voller Name. Without looking in a dictionary I'd translate Voller Narr to Complete idiot. I'll be doing some fresh installs in the next days and am going to check if this is the usual behaviour, or just a side effect of my fonts. Bug#447427: dpkg-cross: please support wrong architecture

Please consider adding an option to disable that check. When building the new package, where would the code to support this option need to put the files? /usr/uclibc-mipsel/lib or /usr/mipsel/lib ? /usr/mipsel-linux-uclibc I'm assuming that adding uclibc-foo like I described here: http://wiki.debian.org/EmDebian/UclibcToolchainBootstrap is the right way to do it. for libc-uclibc-mipsel-cross_2.6.1-6_all.deb ? Also note: $ dpkg-architecture -auclibc-mipsel unknown Debian architecture uclibc-mipsel, you must specify GNU system type, too at /usr/bin/dpkg-architecture line 159. As dpkg-cross merges back into dpkg, dpkg-cross will increasingly rely on dpkg code. Just disabling the check isn't going to be sufficient. I am unsure how much dpkg-cross 2.x will be able to support architectures that are not already supported in dpkg-architecture and adding code to dpkg-cross that cannot be supported by dpkg is futile as dpkg-cross is expected to be removed before Lenny is released. I never expected it to work without adding uclibc arches to dpkg. CC'ing debian-embedded so that others working on uclibc can contribute ideas on how dpkg and dpkg-cross can support unknown and new architectures.
Bug#384864: gpm can not be cross compiled
Package: gpm Version: 1.19.6-22 Severity: normal Gpm can currently not be cross compiled. It compiles fine, but builds a native package. This later makes other builds fail. Work is being done upstream and is already in the git archive. It doesn't compile, though. In the meantime please add a check if crosscompilation is attempted and in that case fail. Bug#384694: it would be nice if dpkg-checkbuilddeps could check for cross build dependencies
Package: dpkg-dev Version: 1.13.22 Severity: wishlist When building debian packages for a different architecture with the help of dpkg-cross there is no way, that I know of, to easily know if all necessary crossdependencies are met. I'd love to see a -a option to dpkg-checkbuilddeps so that for example dpkg-checkbuilddeps -aarm would give a list of libraries and headers that should be installed using dpkg-cross. if the output contained all dependencies it was still extremely useful. regards, Jonas -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#383204: portmap can use numerical notation in hosts.allow only
Package: portmap Version: 5-20 Severity: wishlist this is related to bug #361019 it would be very nice to have it just work as one would expect from the hosts.allow manual page. from the README of portmap: In order to avoid deadlocks, the portmap program does not attempt to look up the remote host name or user name, nor will it try to match NIS netgroups. The upshot of all this is that only network number patterns will work for portmap access control. what kind of deadlocks are meant there? the very same that would deny access to other rpc services anyways? if that is the case i don't see why that would be a problem. imho it is the admins responsibility that the necessary hostname lookups actually work. regards, Jonas -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe.
