Bug#979088: plasma-applet-redshift-control: redshift

2021-01-02 Thread Josef Kufner
Package: plasma-applet-redshift-control
Version: 1.0.18+phabricator~2019080100-1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

redshift package adds systemd user unit to start redshift in the session
automatically, which makes the redshift run twice using different
configuration.

This is related to #979075 and #979076.

I guess some kind of per-session shared configuration should be implemented to
make sure the redshift runs only once and with the desired configuration.

Workaround: systemctl stop redshift.service --user && systemctl disable
redshift.service --user

Bug#952777: sicherboot: Sign DKMS modules

2020-02-28 Thread Josef Kufner
Package: sicherboot
Version: 0.1.5
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

when installing modules via DKMS, the built modules are not signed
automatically and it is rather difficult to figure out how to sign them, and
unfortunately, the kernel refuses to load an unsigned module. It would be nice
if Sicherboot had some DKMS hook to sign the modules automatically.

Bug#949876: chromium: Chromium wants to update and reports it cannot

2020-01-26 Thread Josef Kufner
Package: chromium
Version: 78.0.3904.97-1~deb10u1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

from time to time, Chromium changes its menu button to a red circle with a
white arrow and tells me to update. Then it tells me that it cannot update.

This is wrong for two reasons:

1. Updates are managed by APT from distribution packages and Chromium has
nothing to do with this.

2. It leaks information about my computer to who knows what 3rd-party service
to check if there is a new version.

Please remove this anti-feature completely.

Bug#896019: libglib2.0-0: undefined symbol g_date_copy breaking many programs

2019-07-15 Thread Josef Kufner
I hit this issue after yesterday upgrade from testing to the new stable
too. There was an old file libglib-2.0.so.0.4200.1 from April 2014. Once
I've removed it, mpd worked again.

I think that a simple consistency check about obsolete libraries might
be helpful.

So far I've used this to detect old libraries not managed by dpkg:

find /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu -type f \
| grep -v -x -F -f \
<(find '/var/lib/dpkg/info' -name '*.list' -print0 \
   | xargs -0 grep -h '^/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu' \
   | sort -u)

Bug#904677: mc: Czech localization messed up shortcuts in sort panel dialog

2018-07-26 Thread Josef Kufner
Package: mc
Version: 3:4.8.21-1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

Czech translations changed somewhere between version 4.8.18 and version 4.8.21.
Since then it is not possible to use shortcuts to change sorting of panel
without arrows as there are duplicate hotkeys.

New translations: _Netříděno, _Název, _Verze, _Přípony, Veliko_st, _Okamžik
úpravy, Ok_amžik přístupu, Okamžik změn_y, _I-uzel.

As you can see, the highlighted letters are colliding so I cannot simply press
the letter and Enter.

Old translations: _Netříděno, _Jméno, _Verze, E_xtension, _Délka, _Modifikace,
Čas pří_stupu, Čas změn_y, _I-uzel.

The old translations have no conflicting hotkeys.

Moreover, since the hotkeys have changed, it is really painful to switch
between older and newer version of mc (desktop with unstable Debian vs. server
with stable Debian).

Please change the translations so the hotkeys are the same as before.

Older versions showed the same error, but installation succeeded anyway. Please
make the error non-fatal again (or use copy instead of link).

Bug#889857: dnsmasq-base: Failed to open pidfile when started by Network Manager

2018-02-07 Thread Josef Kufner
Package: dnsmasq-base
Version: 2.78-1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

after upgrading dnsmasq-base 2.78-2, Network Manager fails to start dnsmasq.

I'm using Network Manager with following configuration in
/etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf:

[main]
plugins=ifupdown,keyfile
dns=dnsmasq

So NetworkManager starts dnsmasq, and /etc/resolv.conf contains only 127.0.0.1
as a resolver.

After the upgrade, I get following error in syslog:

... and local resolver is not running.

I downgraded to dnsmasq-base 2.78-1 and problem is gone -- everything works
fine.

I'm using network-manager 1.10.4-1.

Thank you and have a nice day!

Bug#854385: [php-maint] Bug#854385: php7: Missing php-all metapackage

2017-02-06 Thread Josef Kufner
Well... php-all should depend on everything from php.net except debug
and documentation packages.

I like packages like texlive-base and texlive-full. There are many meta
packages for various common use-cases. Each desktop has some meta
package(s) to install all or some components (kde-full, kde-standard).
Also, there are many games-* meta packages.

Such meta packages make it easy to put together meaningful setup to
start with. They are not meant to fit some specific application. Look
through eyes of beginner who is thinking "which package I should install
so I can learn PHP?" If he installs "php", he will be quite surprised
how much is missing. And then there are few hundreds packages to choose
from... Instead he could install "php-standard" meta package and he
would get (opinionated) installation (it may include for example
php-all, composer, and php-fpm + webserver).

Bug#854385: php7: Missing php-all metapackage

2017-02-06 Thread Josef Kufner
Package: php7.0-common
Version: 7.0.15-1
Severity: wishlist
File: php7

Dear Maintainer,

when installing PHP, I found it tedious to select all usually needed packages.
It would be nice to have php-all meta package which would depend on the
typically installed PHP packages.

Thank you!

Bug#849262: libxi6: ksmserver crashes after upgrade from 2:1.7.6-1 to 2:1.7.8-1

2016-12-24 Thread Josef Kufner
Package: libxi6
Version: 2:1.7.8-1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

after upgrading libxi6 from 2:1.7.6-1 to 2:1.7.8-1 the ksmserver crashes when
closing lid and desktop should lock. Downgrade to the older version helps and
it happens every time. See the backtrace. When ksmserver crashes, the whole
session is terminated, so it is quite unplesant crash.

Thank you.

Bug#825848: libkf5declarative5 5.22.0-1 depends on old qtbase-abi-5-5-1

2016-05-30 Thread Josef Kufner

Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

libkf5declarative5 5.22.0-1 depends on old qtbase-abi-5-5-1, which makes it
impossible to install with Qt 5.6. Other KDE packages are updated to Qt 5.6,
but the libkf5declarative5 is not there yet. This dependency also prevents
upgrades of qml-module-* packages to version 5.22. Would you please update this
package or bump it up in the queue?

Thank you and have a nice day!

Bug#823248: erlang-base-hipe: Cannot connect to epmd when IPv6 is enabled

2016-05-02 Thread Josef Kufner
Package: erlang-base-hipe
Version: 1:18.3-dfsg-1
Severity: important
Tags: ipv6

Dear Maintainer,

after upgrade to ejabberd 18.3 it won't start. I found that problem is
in connection to epmd, which won't accept the connection.

Run `epmd -d` in one terminal.

Run `strace epmd -names` in second terminal.

The second command will get stuck when connecting to the first epmd,
strace says:

  ...
  socket(PF_INET6, SOCK_STREAM, IPPROTO_IP) = 3

  connect(3, {sa_family=AF_INET6, sin6_port=htons(4369), inet_pton(AF_INET6,
"::1", _addr), sin6_flowinfo=0, sin6_scope_id=0}, 28

... and nothing happens. After few minutes, connect times out and fails.

I'm running only ejabberd 18.3, it worked fine with ejabberd 18.2 and
erlang of the same age.

I disabled IPv6 using `echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv6/conf/all/disable_ipv6`
and everything works again, except IPv6 connectivity (luckily I don't
have it anyway). With this workaround `strace epmd -names` says:

  ...
  socket(PF_INET6, SOCK_STREAM, IPPROTO_IP) = 3
  connect(3, {sa_family=AF_INET6, sin6_port=htons(4369), inet_pton(AF_INET6,
"::1", _addr), sin6_flowinfo=0, sin6_scope_id=0}, 28) = -1 EADDRNOTAVAIL
(Cannot assign requested address)
  close(3)= 0
  socket(PF_INET, SOCK_STREAM, IPPROTO_IP) = 3
  connect(3, {sa_family=AF_INET, sin_port=htons(4369),
  sin_addr=inet_addr("127.0.0.1")}, 16) = 0
  write(3, "\0\1n", 3)= 3
  read(3, "\0\0\21\21", 4)= 4
  fstat(1, {st_mode=S_IFCHR|0620, st_rdev=makedev(136, 4), ...}) = 0
  mmap(NULL, 4096, PROT_READ|PROT_WRITE, MAP_PRIVATE|MAP_ANONYMOUS, -1, 0) =
0x7f40ce13b000
write(1, "epmd: up and running on port 436"..., 45epmd: up and running
  on port 4369 with data:) = 45
  read(3, "", 3060) = 0
  close(3)= 0
  exit_group(0) = ?
  +++ exited with 0 +++

So the IPv6 connect fails instantly and IPv4 connect works fine.

Bug#819666: upower: Cannot disable CriticalPowerAction

2016-03-31 Thread Josef Kufner
Package: upower
Version: 0.99.4-2
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

I use another tool to send my laptop to sleep when battery is low, so it would
be nice if UPower would not interfere with it. In /etc/UPower/UPower.conf there
is CriticalPowerAction option, but there is no 'no action' value for it. Not
sure is it is really missing or it is just undocumented.

Also UPower should log into syslog, that the CriticalPowerAction has been
triggered, so when unexpected shutdown occurs, it is would be easy to identify,
what happened. Otherwise it is really surprising and hard to find the cause.

Thank you and have a nice day!

Bug#794413: Acknowledgement (libgl1-mesa-glx: Mesa interferes with mouse, causing lost sync and confusing psmouse (wierd, I know))

2015-08-04 Thread Josef Kufner
Hmm... so far it looks like it was a hardware problem, most likely loose
contact under the touchpad. A litlle bit of unsafe pressure on the
touchpad helped :)

I guess you can close this bug as completely irrelevant :)

Thank you.

Bug#794413: libgl1-mesa-glx: Mesa interferes with mouse, causing lost sync and confusing psmouse (wierd, I know)

2015-08-02 Thread Josef Kufner
Package: libgl1-mesa-glx
Version: 10.5.9-2
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

after upgrade of all *-mesa-* packages from 10.5.9-2 to 10.6.3-1, I got very
wierd behavior of my trackpoint and touchpad on Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 12. Mouse
looses sync, sometimes jumping around, sometimes it stops working completely.
Reloading of psmouse module sometimes helps to get mouse back, but not for
long. It happens more when Chromium is running, probably becouse of more
windows to render, but it also happens when Chromium is not running. After
downgrade of Mesa back to 10.5.9-2, mouse works much better, it happened only
once so far when GPU was under full load.

Kernel parameters i8042.reset and i8042.nomux do not help.

Both Linux 4.1 and 4.0 is affected (latest Debian packages).

I dmesg, I can see messages like this:

[ 1997.236795] psmouse serio1: TouchPad at isa0060/serio1/input0 lost
synchronization, throwing 3 bytes away.
[ 2040.216548] psmouse serio1: TouchPad at isa0060/serio1/input0 lost

[ 2062.704873] psmouse serio1: TouchPad at isa0060/serio1/input0 lost

Nothing about GPU related stuff. But since downgrade of messa packages helped,
I'm sending this to you :)

I guess there may be some issue with interrupts or something like that,
otherwise I have no idea how these two things are related to each other.

Thank you and have a nice day!

Bug#788284: sphinxsearch: Add systemd service file

2015-06-09 Thread Josef Kufner
Package: sphinxsearch
Version: 2.2.9-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,
please add sytemd service file for sphinx search. This one looks working just
fine:

--cut--

[Unit]
Description=Sphinx Search - Fast standalone full-text SQL search engine
After=network.target

[Service]
ExecStart=/usr/bin/searchd --config /etc/sphinxsearch/sphinx.conf --nodetach
KillMode=process
Restart=on-failure

[Install]
WantedBy=multi-user.target
Alias=sphinxsearch.service

--cut--

I'm not sure about socket activation and similar stuff, I guess it is not
supported by Sphinx, so this simple service file should be just fine for now.

Have a nice day.

Bug#787605: libgnutls-deb0-28: causes segfaults in gimp and curl and gajim

2015-06-03 Thread Josef Kufner
I guess it is the same bug -- it also breaks Gajim.

libgnutls-deb0-28 version 3.3.15-2 works fine,
but 3.3.15-5 and 3.3.15-4 makes Gajim crash.

When I execute python -v gajim.py, the log ends with this line:

2015-05-17 Thread Josef Kufner
Package: gajim

Dear Maintainer,
latest version of Gajim is 0.16.1, but Debian packages contain only version
0.16.

According to http://hg.gajim.org/gajim/file/gajim-0.16.1/ChangeLog, the 0.16.1
adds support of Message Archive Management (XEP-0313), which is very important
feature, especially when user uses multiple devices and wants chat history
synchronized.

Could you please update packages for the new version?

Package: geeqie

Dear Maintainer,

when Geeqie is in fullscreen mode and I switch workspace, Geeqie is still in
front of me, but it has no focus. Some time ago, the fullscreen mode was window
just like any other, only displayed over whole screen. I guess current behavior
is because Geeqie does not let windowmanager to handle the window, so WM cannot
hide it when moving to another desktop. Same situation is with switching to
anoter window. Alt+tab used to show other window over Geeqie in fullscreen.

My windowmanager: Icewm 1.3.8

Bug#761268: fdroidserver: Hardwired path to keytool is invalid

2014-09-12 Thread Josef Kufner

Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

http://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/collab-
maint/fdroidserver.git/tree/debian/patches/hard-code-path-to-openjdk-7.patch

this patch replaces nice 'keytoll' command with ugly '/usr/lib/jvm/java-7
-openjdk-amd64/bin/keytool', which does not exist on 32-bit system.

As a workaround I created symlink /usr/lib/jvm/java-7-openjdk-amd64 -
jdk-7-oracle-i586 and everything works fine.

Please remove that patch since it breaks things.

Thank you.

Bug#757835: nfs-kernel-server: after update 1.2.8-6-1.2.8-8 rpc.mountd starts crashing

2014-08-12 Thread Josef Kufner
Package: nfs-kernel-server
Version: 1:1.2.8-6
Followup-For: Bug #757835

Dear Maintainer,
I got segfaults too, below are the last working versions, anything newer
segfaults, whether I upgrade libtirpc1 or nfs-kernel-server.

For those who need quick fix/workaround:
  deb http://snapshot.debian.org/archive/debian/20140808/ unstable main contrib
non-free
... and downgrade to libtirpc1 0.2.4-1 and nfs-kernel-server 1:1.2.8-6.

Have a nice day!

Bug#754603: gnuplot-qt does not provide gnuplot-nox, but package description says otherwise

2014-07-13 Thread Josef Kufner
Hi Anton,
gitstats is not the only package. There are few more depending on
gnuplot-nox: boinc-cgi-stripchart, gitstats, gnuplot-mode,
libchart-gnuplot-perl, polygraph, probcons-extra. I don't know these
tools, but I guess there will be the same dependency problem as with
gitstats.

Could you please add 'Provides: gnuplot-nox' to make life a bit easier
until other packages are updated?

I can file bugreports for these 5 packages, but before I do that, how
exactly should other packages which require non-interactive mode to
render few plots depend on gnuplot packages? (I will link this bug from
other bug reports.)

Thank you!

Josef Kufner

Dne 13.7.2014 v 10:21 Anton Gladky napsal(a):
 Hi Josef, thanks for bugreport.

I think we should fix the documentation, that is true.
I do not really see any reason, why gitstats depends on
gnuplot-nox, not gnuplot itself. gnuplot-nox is the minimal
version of gnuplot, so it should not be any problems to use
 -x11 or -qt.

Please ask gistats maintainer to change dependency.

 Thanks

 Anton

 Dear Maintainer,

I cannot upgrade to gnuplot-qt 4.6.5-7 (from 4.6.5-6) because gitstats
 depends
on gnuplot-nox, but gnuplot-qt is in conflict with it and does not provide
 it.
However, package description says it does provide it:

The package provides gnuplot-x11 and gnuplot-nox terminals plus an
 additional
QT-terminal for output (not default one).

There is nothing in dependencies wich would implement this paragraph of
 description.

Bug#750173: libopenvg1-mesa: Crashes when playing video after upgrade from 10.1.2-1 to 10.1.4-1

2014-06-07 Thread Josef Kufner
After few more experiments, I found, that combination of kernel 3.14
(package linux-image-3.14-1-686-pae:i386 3.14.4-1) and mesa packages
version 10.1.2-1 are also affected, but not that badly. Mplayer works
fine, but Chromium playing YouTube is broken, however, after the bug
occurs video is still working, but glxgears segfaults instantly (on
clean boot glxgears works fine).

I downgraded Linux kernel to verison 3.13 (package
linux-image-3.13-1-686-pae:i386 3.13.10-1) and so far everything works fine.

Summary:

  Good:
- linux-image-3.13-1-686-pae, 3.13.10-1
- lib*-mesa-*, 10.1.2-1
- xserver-xorg-core, 2:1.15.1-1
- xserver-xorg-video-intel, 2:2.99.911+git20140529-1~exp2

  Bad:
- linux-image-3.14-1-686-pae, 3.14.4-1
- lib*-mesa-*, 10.1.2-1

  Very bad:
- linux-image-3.14-1-686-pae, 3.14.4-1
- lib*-mesa-*, = 10.1.4

Update: Not so fine. Playing video on Youtube and having paused 0AD triggered
the bug. However it is the most stable combination I found so far.

Bug#742866: linux-wlan-ng broke my wifi - Module p80211 not found

2014-03-28 Thread Josef Kufner
Source: linux-wlan-ng
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

after recent update, I found my wifi dead and 'ifup wlan0' reporting this:

FATAL: Module p80211 not found.
/etc/network/if-pre-up.d/linux-wlan-ng-pre-up: Failed to load p80211.ko.

After removing linux-wlan-ng and linux-wlan-ng-firmware packages and reboot,
wifi works fine.

$ lspci | grep Wireless

Network Connection (rev 02)

$ uname -a
Linux 3.13-1-686-pae #1 SMP Debian 3.13.7-1 (2014-03-25) i686 GNU/Linux

I guess /etc/network/if-pre-up.d/linux-wlan-ng-pre-up script should be more
careful, especially when all it have to do is nothing.

Have a nice day!

Bug#742867: tkabber is not compatible with tk 8.6

2014-03-28 Thread Josef Kufner
Package: tkabber
Version: 0.11.1-3
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

after upgrade to tk 8.6 my tkabber went crazy. It throws a lot of various
errors and it is impossible to add new contact to roster.

I replaced tk package with tk8.5 and everything works again.

Quick fix: mark tkabber package as conflicting with tkabber = 8.6 and let it
depend on tk8.5 package.

Have a nice day!

Bug#703741: mc can delete anything without asking

2013-03-22 Thread Josef Kufner
Package: mc
Version: 3:4.8.3-10
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,
mc can delete files or execute wierd commands without asking.

How to reproduce:

  1. mkdir foo
  2. cd foo
  3. echo hello world bar
  4. echo something else other-file
  5. mc
  6. ctrl+o
  7. type rm -fr bar , do not press enter
  8. ctrl+o, ... hey, how was that file named?
  9. pres enter to go to parent directory
  10. realize mistake, pres enter again and look at the name of 'other-file'
  11. ctrl+o
  12. ohh...

I never confirmed the rm command, but file 'bar' is gone...

When mc changes directory in shell, it executes unfinished command. It can
contain anything.

Expected behaviour: Just keep it unchanged and do not change the current
directory, when there is unfinished command.

Bug#676075: aptitude: Option to change order of packages in listing

2012-06-04 Thread Josef Kufner
Package: aptitude
Version: 0.6.7-1
Severity: wishlist

Hello,
when I see, that upgrade will take a lot of extra disk space, I want to see
which packages grow most. I would be nice to have an option to temporarily sort
packages by their disk usage change, so package which takes the most new disk
space would be first and package which releases most of the space would be
last.

This option should be easily accessible and only for current view.

Thanks,
Josef Kufner

Yeah, that would be nice in addition to installsize and should be
available via Shift-S as other sorting criterias.

Actualy, this shift-S feature is not mentioned in help (?) nor menu.
I'm using aptitude for a few years and never discovered it...

Bug#620292: icedove: Jumping to next unread message does not jump into outbox (sent mail folder)

2011-03-31 Thread Josef Kufner
Package: icedove
Version: 3.1.9-1
Severity: normal

I have Icedove set to store sent mail from one of the identities to
specific folder and sieve on server set to store incomming mail to same
folder. So all mail sent or received with this identity are in one
folder and separed from everything else.

Problem is, that pressing key 'n' does not jump into this folder. It
jumps from one unread mail to another, but it skips this folder.

So you can write, for example:

Package: /.*openoffice\.org.*/
I would like to have something like this instead:

   Package: openoffice.org-*

It would be nice to have both syntaxes. Perl regexp is powerful;
shell-like wildcards are short and mostly sufficient.

When we have perl regexp support, it should be easy to add shell-like
wildcards. Maybe just escape dots and other characters and replace
? - . and * - .*.

Nice work :)
