Bug#993798: icedtea-netx: upgrade to debian 11 makes an Exception rise: A fatal error occurred while trying to verify jars.
Package: icedtea-netx Version: 1.8.4-1 Severity: important X-Debbugs-Cc: jlladon...@gmail.com Dear Maintainer, I upgraded a Debian 10.10 to Debian 11 (bullseye). After this, a remote Java application stopped running. It was running perfectly on Debian 10. Bug#959367: installation-reports: Debian installer lacks ext4 support in /proc/filesystems
Package: installation-reports Severity: normal Dear Maintainer, It is possible booting a Debian iso image from a grub entry (from main grub menu "chaining" to grub.cfg in iso file). I tried it from an installed Debian 10.3 in the laptop. Boot works but installation stalls in CD media detection (cannot find media). I guess the cause is that ext4 filesystem (where the iso is placed) is not accessible (lack of ext4 in /proc/filesystems and ext4 module). There are 2 alternatives to make that possible: - add ext4 driver into installer kernel. - use an installer kernel with ext4 usage compiled-in (not as a module). This way the iso image would be found. To bypass this lack, one can place iso image in a vfat partition, for example, but why having to rely on "other brand filesystems" having ext4 available as the main system? Regards, Josep -- Package-specific info: Boot method: Grub from a drive directly to iso file Image version: https://saimei.ftp.acc.umu.se/cdimage/unofficial/non-free/cd-including-firmware/bullseye_di_alpha2/amd64/iso-cd/firmware-bullseye-DI-alpha2-amd64-netinst.iso Date: Machine: Elitebook 830 G6 laptop Partitions: Base System Installation Checklist: [O] = OK, [E] = Error (please elaborate below), [ ] = didn't try it Initial boot: [ ] Detect network card:[ ] Configure network: [ ] Detect CD: [ ] Load installer modules: [ ] Clock/timezone setup: [ ] User/password setup:[ ] Detect hard drives: [ ] Partition hard drives: [ ] Install base system:[ ] Install tasks: [ ] Install boot loader:[ ] Overall install:[ ] Comments/Problems: -- Please make sure that the hardware-summary log file, and any other installation logs that you think would be useful are attached to this report. Bug#959072: Output from dpkg -s package-name in a multiarch environment - ambiguity and architectures
Package: dpkg Version: 1.19.7 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer, I wanted to verify which version of libc6 was installed so I did dpkg -s libc6 and its output was: +++ dpkg-query: error: --status needs a valid package name but 'libc6' is not: ambiguous package name 'libc6' with more than one installed instance Use --help for help about querying packages. +++ Messages addresses to "--help". I remembered then that the default system architecture is amd64 and has the additional i386. Help is not explaining anything related to "instances" but something about "architectures". I do not know if the only chance to have 2 instances of 2 packages with the same package-name is related to architecture (so they mean the same) but perhaps it would be interesting explaining somewhere that "package- name:architecture" is the syntax to check for a specific instance/architecture (man page only says that multi-arch fields and semantics were added since dpkg 1.16.2 but they are not described. I would have preferred the message listing the ambiguities of the installed packages; in this case: libc6:amd64 libc6:i386 Thank you, Josep -- Package-specific info: -- System Information: Debian Release: 10.3 APT prefers stable APT policy: (990, 'stable'), (500, 'stable-updates'), (500, 'proposed-updates') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 5.6.7 (SMP w/8 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=ca_AD.utf8, LC_CTYPE=ca_AD.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE=ca_AD.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) Versions of packages dpkg depends on: ii libbz2-1.0 1.0.6-9.2~deb10u1 ii libc62.28-10 ii liblzma5 5.2.4-1 ii libselinux1 2.8-1+b1 ii tar 1.30+dfsg-6 ii zlib1g 1:1.2.11.dfsg-1 dpkg recommends no packages.
