I'm seeing similar behaviour, but I'm not sure it's identical. I don't
have "load-module module-alsa-sink" uncommented in /etc/pulse/default.pa.
I've also rebuild pulseaudio with the patches but my problem persists.
With no USB audio devices connected, pulseaudio works

- apt-get install libgd-gd2-perl
- change apt.sources back to Wheezy
- apt-get update
- apt-get dist-upgrade
Note that libgd-gd2-perl was not installed prior to the upgrade.

We manage the server that was making the requests. I'm happy to provide

The version of apt-cacher-ng in question is 0.4-1 (originally from
testing), which was built and installed on a Lenny system. I see that
