The TSST Corporation (Toshiba Samsung Storage Technology -- Toshiba and
Samsung Fusion) stop back in 2016 the manufacturing of Optical Disc Drives,
and this segment was stopped this manner. The another fusion HLDT (Hitachi
/ LG Data Technology - Fusion of Hitachi and LG) continues to manufacturate
still in nowadays "Optical Disc Drives"

Was missing the rest of the files (I'm not experienced Reporting Bugs for
Debian Project, this is my first one):

The reportbug gtk2 was working correctly at the moment of the upload of
attachments.

Follows on this e-mail the another files that I wanted to share with the
Developers here

*Note: *Forget the duplicated upload, this was an mistake mine (the
Graphical Interface of "*reportbug*" was not clear about what was being
uploaded).

Thanks.

Dear Maintainer,

Hi the designated Security Team of Debian-LTS and Debian Developers!

The Bug that I'm here referring, I know that existed since I have discovered
the same, near the release of the latest point release "7.11" in middle of
2016. Here goes the problem:

Follows here the original log from an installation of Debian 7.7 with the
filename:

( file: dmesg_(SE-208DB_-_TSBS).txt )

It's impossible to have a Read Speed Rate of "62X".

The version of the dmesg that I've for now on my Debian 7 32-bits "Wheezy"
installation is:

$ dmesg --version
dmesg de util-linux 2.20.1

The Debian 8 codename "Jessie" and the current stable "Stretch" (latest current
stable in 2018) doesn't both have this Bug in any form.

Any other needed information from me to provide here, for the Developers be
able to do a better handling of this possibly that is still present Bug on
Debian 7 (only Debian 7 GNU / Linux I've seen this problem)?

Note: The Ubuntu Distribution, in the last version that carried the Kernel
3.2-0.x, the version "12.04.1", doesn't have the same bug.

Here goes the relevant part of the log output for the Ubuntu version "12.04.1"
(codename "Precise Pangolin"), with the same Kernel as the Debian 7:

[4.480600] scsi 0:0:0:0: CD-ROMTSSTcorp CDDVDW SE-208DB MF00

[4.490086] sr 0:0:0:0: Attached scsi CD-ROM sr0
[4.490155] sr 0:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg1 type 5

, and comes together of the same, the complete log made on this mentioned
Ubuntu release, and which that doesn't contains that issue.

(file: dmesg_test.txt )

Threre many other variants of "TSST Corp. SE-208 (XX)" External Optical Disc
Drives (ODDs) Manufactured and sold on the Market. Here is the list of what I
found searching on the Internet (maybe the variants also have this clear Bug):

• SE-208DB/CHBS
*( Color Black -- Only (Black) - Chinese Model )

• SE-208GB/RSBS
*( Black )

• SE-208DB/BRBS
*( Black (Brazilian Model) )

• SE-208BW-BRDS

• SE-208AB/BRBSA

• SE-208AB/TSBS

• SE-208GB/IDBS

• SE-208GB/RSWD

• SE-208GB/RSBD

• SE-208GB/RSLD

• SE-208AB/TSWS

• SE-208AB/TSLS

*( Blue )

• SE-208DB/TSRS
*( Red )

• SE-208DB/TSWS
*( White )

• SE-208GB/RSRD
*( Red )

Comes here together the original file with the Report, and the websites where
I encountered the reference of the Models.

Please, Developers, fix this issue on Wheezy (the Archived versions, I've not
tested yet, but don't matter here, since are not more supportted, as Wheezy
(Ubuntu 11.04, the last based on Debian Lenny, also does not have this Bug) ),
before the Debian 7 Wheezy be archived, and when the same still have the
possibility of be still fixed.

I'm sorry if I decided to make a Report of this Bug too late.. but last year I
don't was very well for to do it until December.

Question: Can Debian "borrow" the Kernel compilation for this Driver from
Ubuntu? I've a register on Launchpad.net to ask this for the Ubuntu developers,
if needed. I don't knows how the Developers will handle this Bug, I'm only
suggestioning a hypothetical possible way, if is this really a valid
possibility, indeed

Also follows a considerable portion of my Hardware Configuration (a Motherboard
ASRock N68-S3 FX and with and AMD Processor Sempron Socket 145). If requested,
I'll do a further and deep Report of my Hardware Configuration.

Best Regards.

Luis, Brazil.
