I think I may have the same problem.
When I shutdown or restart my laptop the process proceeds as normal to
the point where the last message printed on the screen is "Reached
target power-off" and then nothing happens. I then need to push and
hold power button until power switches off.

I have this same issue on my computer. The gnome application called
Video plays my video file with out any problems, but with vlc the video
is blank/black and audio working fine.
Here is a sample of the output from terminal;

Further investigations;
I downloaded the Debian libvirt=1.2.7-11 source package.
Then did, debuild -uc -us
I then installed this package with Aptitude, no broken package error ...
The locally built libvirt-daemon package dependency is now;

I tried a couple more things ...
I found the missing symbol was added to mutter recently when wayland
branch was merged, so I installed latest packages; mutter-common,
libmutter0d, gsettings-desktop-schemas, gir1.2-mutter-3.0.
By the way when I say latest I mean experimental ...

After installing gnome-shell and gnome-shell-common again and being
presented with the blank screen after reboot I found some errors in the
