Bug#522538: nagios3: Error reported in nagios.log regarding check results

Hello Alex,

did you tried to set max_check_result_file_age to 0 or adapt the
 check_result_reaper_* timings as mentioned here:
 http://www.mail-archive.com/nagios-users@lists.sourceforge.net/msg25993.html?

I'm afraid I no longer have access to the nagios install that was having
the reported issue, so I am unable to tell you what, if anything, has been
tried.

It's probably best just to mark this issue as deatl with, and if it ever
occurs in any of my future nagios installs I can refer back to it.

Thanks

Bug#517231: Workaround for BTS#517231

2009-03-05 Thread Martin A. Brooks

Hi

I have found a simple workaround for this bug.

At the main installer screen, press Alt+F2 to move to a virtual console
and press Enter to activate it. Then type

echo stable /etc/udebs-source

Press Alt+F1 to get back to the main installer and then continue as normal.

There may be some reason why doing this is Bad, Wrong and Evil[tm] so YMMV.

Bug#348046: exim4-daemon-heavy: TLS delivery attempts fail with: (gnutls_handshake): A TLS packet with unexpected length was received.

2006-01-14 Thread Martin A. Brooks
Package: exim4-daemon-heavy
Version: 4.60-1
Severity: important

Hi

A newly install exim4 server produces the following error during any TLS
connection:

2006-01-14 11:57:13 TLS error on connection from (parken) [195.1.19.x]
(gnutls_handshake): A TLS packet with unexpected length was received.
2006-01-14 11:57:13 TLS error on connection from (parken) [195.1.19.x]
(gnutls_handshake): A TLS packet with unexpected length was received.

Disabling TLS delivery attempts by adding hosts_avoid_tls = * to the
remote_smtp driver alleviates the problem, but obviously disables TLS
entirely.

Bug#348046:

2006-01-14 Thread Martin A. Brooks

Hi

I sent the bug report from the wrong machine, please note that my email
address is [EMAIL PROTECTED] not [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Is this case exim is working as a mailhub, it accepts mail and then
relays it on to one of a few possible destinations.

This problems occurs for all the destinations available.

This certainly might be a dupe of #297174, the nature of this server
means I cannot reasonably attempt to relink against the older gnutls
library. I'll need to put together a test system to try that.

It's possible that the machine has insufficient entropy, I'll have to
admit that I have no idea how to check that this is or isn't the case.

That's done, you should have got a test mail from the system involved.
You can use this machine to send mails back to yourself if you'd like to
test for yourself.

swaks --tls --server destination.host.name.example --to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Done.

cat /proc/sys/kernel/random/entropy_avail

This start at 4096 then drops sharply to 200 when a TLS session is
initiated. I've installed the rng-tools package, if this is an entropy
starvation problem them this daemon might alleviate the problem.

Sorry for the lack of response.

I can confirm that this was a bad divert and nothing to do with the
ia32-libs package. Removing the offending divert allows the package to
install correctly.

Bug#314529: base-config wants to remove a valid mail system and install unwanted packages

2005-06-16 Thread Martin A. Brooks

The following packages will be upgraded:

This is bogus for two reasons:

1) Installing exim4-daemon-light would hose my perfectly working mail
system.
2) I have no need for any of these ppp packages.

commandline that you want both base-config and exim4-daemon-heavy to be
installed.

The dist-upgrade should see I already have exim4-daemon-heavy installed
and be happy with that.

apt-get install base-config exim4-daemon-heavy does indeed do what I
want, but it's nuts that the default behaviour is to break a working system.
