Bug#887371: nemo: crash/segfault whilst manipulating files in a folder
Howdy, Sorry for the late reply. Had to wait until the right kernel was backported to Buster (new laptop). Although it can become a bit laggy and/or slow, I am glad to see that crash is no longer reproducible in the stable branch (nemo-3.8.5-1). Tried aggressive stuff, like folders with hundreds of files, thumnails enabled in heavy files, and tried to move many files from folder to folder by dragging and dropping, or cutting and pasting. Which was/is the crash formula for old stable, consolidating hundreds of files from many folders, into a single folder with thousands of files, was impossible. No more crashes for me. Happy holidays. Bug#916947: linux-image-4.18.0-0.bpo.3-amd64: Can't get image/audio output from external monitor when the maximum resolution is set (1920x1080) (HDMI)
I don't own this laptop anymore. I don't see anything productive about having this bug open in debian, since there's a few reports about this matter in kernel and freedesktop's bugzilla.

Bug#919115: linux-image-4.19.0-0.bpo.1-amd64-unsigned: Graphical glitches (lightdm and cinnamon) after upgrading linux (RadeonRX540)
Just upgraded to firmware-amd-graphics-20190114/stretch-backports and nothing changed, therefore lightdm might be working with testing branch because of lightdm's version or something unrelated to linux itself (maybe mesa?), still, it used to work correctly with stretch until linux 4.18.20 (at least the lightdm thing because I had hdmi issues). After 4.19 I've been having to rely on 'amdgpu.dc=0' to avoid graphical glitches, but amdgpu.dc=1 to get audio through HDMI. Wallpaper glitches are gone, but cinnamon's lockscreen is still bugged, stuck and freezed just like lightdm's 'black screen' (if switching from tty to lightdm/lockscreen it refreshes once but it doesn't refreshes in real time so you can't see any typing or menus/dialogs working, although they're working, just not graphically) 'amdgpu.dc=0' still a workaround fortunately. Worth remembering that with debian unstable it refreshes every 5 seconds (only lockscreen, lightdm just works like I said). I have these graphical glitches only with debian. Ever since kernel 4.16 I have lot of weird things going on with amdgpu (Acer laptop with AMD A12-9720P RADEON R7 RADEON RX540) (all distros). Fortunately debian it's still the most reliable distro IME. If anyone it's interested in improving support for this laptop, there are a few important bugs in bugzilla.kernel, and bugs.freedesktop regarding AMD A12-9720P RADEON R7 RADEON RX540. A lot of work it's needed to get this laptop working with debian, since this laptop won't even boot properly with kernel 4.9 from stable.
Bug#919115: linux-image-4.19.0-0.bpo.1-amd64-unsigned: Graphical glitches (lightdm and cinnamon) after upgrading linux (RadeonRX540)
Today I tested this laptop with testing and unstable branch, all defaults, no personalized parameters or configurations. About lightdm graphical glitches: Couldn't reproduce any hang, frozen frame, or 'black screen' when using testing or unstable branch. (firmware seems to be related, will test stretch with firmware-amd-graphics-20190114 when available), every animation is properly refreshed, from typing to menus. About wallpaper issues: When using testing or unstable branch I couldn't reproduce any graphical glitches in wallpapers (neither cinnamon or lightdm) seems related to firmware as well. About Cinnamon's lockscreen: Still buggy in both testing and unstable, although linux-image-4.19.0-3-amd64 is definitely smoother compared to 4.19.0-2 (stretch, testing), cinnamon's lockscreen doesn't seem to refresh in real time, and it rather refreshes itself every 5 seconds exactly (easy to check with the lockscreen's clock). With stretch it doesn't refreshes at all so it looks like a black screen (like what happens with lightdm/stable), but it's actually running fine if you type the password (avoiding typos while typing blind), it's just that there's no graphical refreshing (to put in in my own terms lol). Since amdgpu.dc it's enabled by default, an old issue with redshift not lowering the cursor's temperature color, it's as well fixed. I do see some weird lines appearing and disappearing in the top right corner of my screen and some other areas, but I guess it's fine since it's unstable branch. This laptop (acer with a12-9720p, radeon rx 540) works awful with linux btw, Acer doesn't care, neither AMD, sadly I might be returning it / selling it, next month. Thanks for the help, sorry for any typos.

Bug#919115: linux-image-4.19.0-0.bpo.1-amd64-unsigned: Graphical glitches (lightdm and cinnamon) after upgrading linux (RadeonRX540)
Few things about using 'amdgpu.dc=0' as a workaround for graphical glitches. I can't get any HDMI audio output (works correctly with the default parameters). On the other hand, redshift doesn't seem to be working correctly with 'amdgpu.dc=0' (cursor temperature remains at 6500K). This works correctly as well with the default parameters. > A workaround for this bug it's using 'amdgpu.dc=0'. No more glitches > for wallpapers, screensaver, or lightdm. >

Bug#919115: linux-image-4.19.0-0.bpo.1-amd64-unsigned: Graphical glitches (lightdm and cinnamon) after upgrading linux (RadeonRX540)
Some details on the lightdm/lockscreen issue. I just noticed that if I switch to tty1 and go back to lightdm everything is displayed properly, or well, that's what I thought at first, because when I tried to click something or even type, it was unresponsive, it's like a frozen frame, basically, like a lightdm's screenshot. I could still notice the cursor responding to text areas, so I could as well login successfully since lightdm is actually running. From my deeply ignorant point of view, that 'black screen' at the beginning it's more like the last 'frame' from the booting process, after that, it never refreshes and appears to be pure blackness. If I go tty mode, and go back to lightdm it refreshes graphically for a second, but still, no animations at all, no text, no menus, nothing, like clicking/typing on a picture, except for the cursor which seems to be working correctly. This is from journalctl, every time I go from lightdm/cinnamon's lockscreen to tty and vice versa. #tty1 14 00:10:31 debian kernel: [drm] PCIE GART of 256M enabled (table at 0x00F4). 14 00:10:31 debian kernel: [drm] UVD and UVD ENC initialized successfully. 14 00:10:31 debian kernel: [drm] VCE initialized successfully. 14 00:10:38 debian kernel: amdgpu :03:00.0: GPU pci config reset #back to lockscreen (lightdm gives the same output) 14 00:11:03 debian kernel: [drm] PCIE GART of 256M enabled (table at 0x00F4). 14 00:11:03 debian kernel: [drm] UVD and UVD ENC initialized successfully. 14 00:11:03 debian kernel: [drm] VCE initialized successfully. 14 00:11:10 debian kernel: amdgpu :03:00.0: GPU pci config reset

Bug#918135: if mail view is hidden, thunderbird will hang when closing tabs containing a mail
Package: thunderbird Version: 1:60.4.0-1~deb9u1 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer, I've been experiencing hangs when closing a tab or many. The way I've been able to reproduce this is by hiding mail view with the mouse, and then try to open and close a mail separately in a tab. After closing the tab, Thunderbird will hang for a few seconds, specially if the mail is contained in a large folder, I tried with a 500mb folder (important hang), a 10 mb folder (small hang). and tried as well with a 500~Kb folder but I don't get any hang when closing tabs from this mail. I can't reproduce any hang neither when opening and closing a mail in a separate window, only tabs. If I slide back mail view to read mails in the front view, everything is smooth, can read mails from both tabs and windows without any hang or freeze. But I still wonder what could be causing this, I'd be glad to help with any info. -- System Information: Debian Release: 9.6 APT prefers stable-updates APT policy: (500, 'stable-updates'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 4.18.0-0.bpo.3-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=es_CO.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=es_CO.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE=es_CO:es (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) Versions of packages thunderbird depends on: ii debianutils 4.8.1.1 ii fontconfig2.11.0-6.7+b1 ii libatk1.0-0 2.22.0-1 ii libc6 2.24-11+deb9u3 ii libcairo-gobject2 1.14.8-1 ii libcairo2 1.14.8-1 ii libdbus-1-3 1.10.26-0+deb9u1 ii libdbus-glib-1-2 0.108-2 ii libevent-2.0-52.0.21-stable-3 ii libffi6 3.2.1-6 ii libfontconfig12.11.0-6.7+b1 ii libfreetype6 2.6.3-3.2 ii libgcc1 1:6.3.0-18+deb9u1 ii libgdk-pixbuf2.0-02.36.5-2+deb9u2 ii libglib2.0-0 2.50.3-2 ii libgtk-3-03.22.11-1 ii libgtk2.0-0 2.24.31-2 ii libjsoncpp1 1.7.4-3 ii libpango-1.0-01.40.5-1 ii libpangocairo-1.0-0 1.40.5-1 ii libpangoft2-1.0-0 1.40.5-1 ii libstartup-notification0 0.12-4+b2 ii libstdc++66.3.0-18+deb9u1 ii libvpx4 1.6.1-3+deb9u1 ii libx11-6 2:1.6.4-3+deb9u1 ii libx11-xcb1 2:1.6.4-3+deb9u1 ii libxcb-shm0 1.12-1 ii libxcb1 1.12-1 ii libxext6 2:1.3.3-1+b2 ii libxrender1 1:0.9.10-1 ii libxt61:1.1.5-1 ii psmisc22.21-2.1+b2 ii x11-utils 7.7+3+b1 ii zlib1g1:1.2.8.dfsg-5 Versions of packages thunderbird recommends: ii hunspell-en-us [hunspell-dictionary] 20070829-7 ii lightning 1:60.4.0-1~deb9u1 ii myspell-es [myspell-dictionary] 1.11-14 Versions of packages thunderbird suggests: ii apparmor 2.11.0-3+deb9u2 pn fonts-lyx ii libgssapi-krb5-2 1.15-1+deb9u1 -- no debconf information
Bug#916947: linux-image-4.18.0-0.bpo.3-amd64: Can't get image/audio output from external monitor when the maximum resolution is set (1920x1080) (HDMI)
Package: src:linux Version: 4.18.20-2~bpo9+1 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer, After upgrading and booting linux 4.18.20 from stretch-backports, I don't get any output from my TV (samsung smart tv) if set to it's maximum resolution. It works correctly (with sound as well) if it is set to lower resolutions like 1680x1050, or 720x576, but when set to 1920x1080 the TV says 'No signal', as if it were not connected. Even during boot. Cinnamon the desktop environment I'm using seems to believe everything is being displayed, because I can move windows to the TV but the TV will remain in 'No signal'. Lightdm seems to believe the same because the login dialog is displayed on that monitor but it's completely unaccessible unless I unplug the HDMI offcourse. It was working correctly with linux 4.18.6, and still does. -- Package-specific info: ** Version: Linux version 4.18.0-0.bpo.3-amd64 (debian-ker...@lists.debian.org) (gcc version 6.3.0 20170516 (Debian 6.3.0-18+deb9u1)) #1 SMP Debian 4.18.20-2~bpo9+1 (2018-12-08) ** Command line: BOOT_IMAGE=/vmlinuz-4.18.0-0.bpo.3-amd64 root=/dev/mapper/firebolt-root ro quiet ** Tainted: O (4096) * Out-of-tree module has been loaded. ** Kernel log: Unable to read kernel log; any relevant messages should be attached ** Model information sys_vendor: Acer product_name: Aspire A515-41G product_version: V1.08 chassis_vendor: Acer chassis_version: V1.08 bios_vendor: Insyde Corp. bios_version: V1.08 board_vendor: BR board_name: Wartortle_BS board_version: V1.08 ** Loaded modules: rfcomm pci_stub vboxpci(O) vboxnetadp(O) vboxnetflt(O) vboxdrv(O) fuse ebtable_filter ebtables ip6table_filter ip6_tables iptable_filter bnep arc4 amdkfd amdgpu uvcvideo videobuf2_vmalloc videobuf2_memops videobuf2_v4l2 videobuf2_common videodev rtsx_pci_sdmmc mmc_core rtsx_pci_ms memstick wmi_bmof btusb btrtl media btbcm btintel bluetooth ath10k_pci ath10k_core joydev snd_hda_codec_realtek drbg edac_mce_amd snd_hda_codec_generic ansi_cprng ath snd_hda_codec_hdmi mac80211 snd_hda_intel kvm_amd ecdh_generic snd_hda_codec ccp snd_hda_core snd_hwdep kvm chash snd_pcm_oss gpu_sched irqbypass cfg80211 ttm snd_mixer_oss snd_pcm psmouse drm_kms_helper snd_timer drm sg crct10dif_pclmul crc32_pclmul ghash_clmulni_intel snd r8169 rfkill i2c_algo_bit mii xhci_pci k10temp tpm_crb fam15h_power tpm_tis tpm_tis_core tpm rtsx_pci sp5100_tco xhci_hcd i2c_piix4 wmi battery ac video rng_core soundcore button pcc_cpufreq acpi_cpufreq parport_pc ppdev lp parport ip_tables x_tables autofs4 ext4 crc16 mbcache jbd2 crc32c_generic fscrypto ecb dm_crypt dm_mod hid_generic usbhid hid sd_mod crc32c_intel aesni_intel aes_x86_64 ahci crypto_simd cryptd glue_helper libahci ehci_pci ehci_hcd evdev libata serio_raw usbcore scsi_mod usb_common ** PCI devices: 00:00.0 Host bridge [0600]: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. Bug#887371: nemo: crash/segfault whilst manipulating files in a folder
Package: nemo Version: 3.2.2-3 Followup-For: Bug #887371 Hello there, I've been experiencing something similar since I installed debian stretch early this year. If I drag and drop, copy, cut and/or paste a few times several files (in this case from 50/500 or more jpg/png/gif/webm files). I am able to reproduce this bug anytime, by moving several images (or any other file with a thumbnail) from folder to folder, each folder with several files as well, after moving several times a random number of files, it'll crash when visiting different folders. But I don't know how to trace further information like a log or something with more info about the crash. If somebody can point me how to get more info, I can reproduce it again, thanks.
