thanks

As mentioned at http://person.zju.edu.cn/page1/ejabberd-en.htm#htoc67 a
remotely accessable epmd is a possible security problem where anyone can
connect with a rogue erlang node having full access at your node and its
(for example) mnesia data (think ejabberd).

Apart from that the suggested solution only helps on single-user
systems; sockets might be the better thing to implement.

SYNOPSIS

DESCRIPTION
gwhois is a generic whois client. It strives to know for all existing
tlds and all ip address range the appropiate whois server to ask. You
can simple call gwhois with a query for some domain or some ip and it
will ask the right server for you! It can even query webforms which are
unfortunately the only query type supported by many bad nics.

gwhois can also be used as a whois server. You can call it from the
inetd and make it accessable via a normal standard whois client. This
allows for example using a windows client and still make use of the
   enhanced features of gwhois.

Bug#465405: Antw: Re: Bug#465405: mcabber: Please add SRV support

2008-07-17 Thread Peter Schwindt

Gerfried Fuchs [EMAIL PROTECTED] schrieb am Mittwoch, 16. Juli 2008 um
 20:47:

  Does http://wiki.mcabber.com/index.php/Frequently_Asked_Questions #2
solve the requirement for you, at least as a workaround? Not sure about
the problems you would like to solve with SRV records.

Well, to be honest, it would if I'd use gmail. There are quite some servers out
there
that use different ports (or IPs differring from the hosts A record) - so you'd
need to configure
your xmpp client manually (and search for the correct settings) if you'd not be
able to use SRV records

Regards,
Peter

Bug#445840: irssi: should this package be orphaned?

2007-10-09 Thread Peter Schwindt
* Lucas Nussbaum [EMAIL PROTECTED] [071009 10:13]:

The package has a lot of open bugs, most of them without any comment
from the maintainer. The maintainer clearly hasn't had enough time to
 maintain that package.

I hope that this is going to change, and that all bugs will at least be
looked at, but it would probably be a better idea to maintain this
package as a team, since a lot of people have some interest in it.

I could help maintaining it, at least bug triaging, if it's orphaned or
a maintainer team needs help.

Bug#444114: WFM

2007-09-26 Thread Peter Schwindt
With some help from #debian-x (thanks, guys) it's now WFM for me. What
did I do:

1) install xserver-xorg-video-mga from experimental (1:1.9.99.dfsg.1-1)

2) remove xorg.conf

3) change the display plugs (DVI - VGA)

4) use xrandr --output DVI --left-of VGA

I had to do step 3) since --right-of only blanked the right (the DVI
one) display. Xinerama existed, I could move the mouse onto that display
(but it also blackened)

I'll add xrandr output as well as the Xorg.0.log

Bug#442140: x2vnc: Weird problem having two mouse pointers

2007-09-14 Thread Peter Schwindt
Good morning Ola,

* Ola Lundqvist [EMAIL PROTECTED] [070913 17:13]:

I see from the X config that you already have two screens. Maybe that
is the problem. I'm not fully sure if x2vnc can handle that.

Do the same problem exist if you use -left option istead of -right?

Now this is really weird: If I start x2vnc using '-west', everything is
fine *scratches head*

Thanks for you help,

Peter

Bug#442140: x2vnc: Weird problem having two mouse pointers

2007-09-13 Thread Peter Schwindt
Package: x2vnc
Version: 1.7.1-2
Severity: important

I'm using a tightvnc server on some windows XP SP 2 box which I want to
control remotely (v 1.3.9)

Starting x2vnc like this: x2vnc -east ibmtp78:0 it connects to the server
but when I move my mouse cursor to the far right onto the windows box I get
2 (two) flickering cursors on its screen. Unfortunately I can't do a
screenshot since both only appear when moving the mouse.

They are on the same Y position but on different X positions (always the
same distance

Maybe someone has an idea how to change the behaviour - I suspect my X
config to be the one to blame.

Package: nagios2-common

Severity: minor

The hosts extended information file points to debian.png for the
debian-servers hostgroup but there is no such file - it should better
point to base/debian.png.

Bug#314289: ssh: unable to login after upgrade to 4.1p1-3

2005-06-15 Thread Peter Schwindt

Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

After upgrading to ssh 4.1p1-3 (including openssh-server and -client)
I'm not able to login via ssh anymore. Log follows:

It looks like authentication is working fine but I'm logged out
instantly. Worked fine till some hours ago.
