Bug#625856: tripwire: Assertion failed

2011-05-12 Thread QuadCEM
Yes I can confirm this on my end; everything seems to be back to normal
after applying the glibc updates.

 Hi,

Yesterday there was an upload of eglibc with this changelog:

It seems to have fixed this problem in my i386/amd64 test machines,
 could you confirm this?

 Thanks,

I can also confirm this on 2.4.2-9; I think the problem might be with the new

last set of upgrades. Tripwire has become completely unusable, though.

I'm not sure when it stopped working, but my grave / backtick key (for QWERTY
USA) no longer seems to be working under any keyboard layout.

Shift + ` works fine (on QWERTY USA it outputs ~ as expected), and under Russia
Phonetic Shift + ` gives Ю, as expected (but outputs nothing without Shift).

Win + ` gives me the backtick as well for QWERTY USA.

I don't have that rule on my box here. Could you send me the contents of
your /etc/firestarter directory so I can load up your local
 configuration, please?

Also, nothing is showing up any longer under 'Active connections'. I'm
not sure if this is a related issue or not. I noticed the issues after
upgrading to 2.6.37, so I am assuming they are related to the kernel
 upgrade.

I don't think this is related, I think this may have stopped working a
few kernel versions ago, or at least become intermittant.

 Thanks.

I upgraded to firestarter 1.0.3-10 and to kernel 2.6.37-2 this afternoon
and it seems to be back to normal now ... did you already release a fix
for this, or did something in the kernel update take care of it?

The -10 version doesn't do anything regarding what configuration
 firestarter loads/implements.

Just to be clear - are you saying that the firewall is now correctly
configured (and protecting your machine) or that the Active Connections
part of firestarter is now working (or both), please?

 Regards,

Though the Active Connections is not populating still, the important
part of firestarter is working again. I only upgraded those two
packages, so it must be something related to 37-2 (or just the
re-installation of the kernel). It doesn't appear to have been directly
related to firestarter then.

Thanks again for the help

Firestarter does not show active connections on the new kernel, nor does it
acknowledge the Drop silently preference. When Drop silently is chosen,

Bug#581593: udev: kernel-provided name 'dm-0' and NAME='/mapper/sdb2_crypt' disagree

During boot, a bunch of ominous warnings come up along the lines of:

kernel-provided name 'dm-0' and NAME='/mapper/sdb2_crypt' disagree, please use
SYMLINK+= or change the kernel to provide the proper name

All of my partitions except boot are encrypted. The system seems to boot like
normal otherwise, as far as I can tell so far.

Bug#580833: initrd fails to recognize encrypted root fs

2010-05-08 Thread QuadCEM

Package: linux-image-2.6.32-5-xen-686
Version: 2.6.32-12

Hopefully this is not just user error ...

My root fs is encrypted and I am running grub2. When booting dom0 in
Xen, it successfully unlocks the volume, but initrd's /scripts fail.
Error messages as follows:

...
mount: cannot read /etc/fstab : No such file or directory
Begin: Running /scripts/local-bottom ... done.
done.
Begin: Running /scripts/init-bottom ... mount: mounting /dev on
/root/dev failed: No such file or directory

done.
mount: mounting /sys on /root/sys failed: No such file or directory
mount: mounting /proc on /root/proc failed: No such file or directory
Target filesystem doesn't have /sbin/init.
No init found. Try passing init= bootarg
...

And then I'm dumped into BusyBox. From there I can successfully mount
the root fs manually (mount -t ext3 /dev/mapper/sdb2_crypt /tmproot).

My related grub.cfg entry is:

menuentry Debian-Xen GNU/Linux {
insmod ext2
set root='(hd1,1)'
search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set (longuuidhere)
multiboot /xen-3.4-i386.gz
module /vmlinuz-2.6.32-5-xen-686 root=/dev/mapper/sdb2_crypt ro
module /initrd.img-2.6.32-5-xen-686
}
