Bug#525333: zomg lacks play continuously/automatically play the next ... in radio mode
Package: zomg Version: 0.5.5-1 Severity: normal Hi, While I like most about zomg (especially the new librefm part) I do miss one feature or lack of it is considered to be a bug by me - hence not wishlist, which it is anyway ;^) The option I'm talking about is play continuously/automatically play the next 5 (or other number if possible) titles. Package: vsftpd Version: 2.0.7-3 Severity: normal Hi, Last week I had sent a follow-up to a bug #472329. This is most likely a bug in your X driver. Which driver do you use? (This needs to be reassigned to that driver then). I'm using radeon. Could be, but doubt it - nothing like that ever happened before: changes in the resolution, restart of X - yes; init change - never. Before we jump into conclusions we have to take into account that only recently 'rocksndiamonds' had two X11 crash bugs fixed. Please try to limit bug reports to one issue at once; I cloned this part to track it separately. Will try. P.S. Bug#440955: bug more severe than 'important'
Package: gnome-screensaver Version: 2.20.0-1 Followup-For: Bug #440955 Hi, Recently I started using libpam-unix2 and moved from md5 to blowfish. I used to use the 'Lock Screen' option quite often, both home and at work. IMHO the bug should be reclassified to 'serious' or even 'grave' since it renders the package unusable by users who value their privacy. I cannot expect my users to switch to a virtual terminal, log in, kill the gnome-screensaver, log off and switch back to X; I don't even want them to do that. Bug#439890: zomg and zomghelper lack man pages
Clint Adams wrote: It'll play (probably) 5 songs in a row, you'll be able to skip each with Ctrl-C, and then you'll need to enter 'p' at the [broken] prompt to queue up another 5. That's exactly what it does, at least for now. To get all the original functionality there'll need to be some degree of redesign. The next thing to do would be to automate the 'p' functionality. The nicely formated output is also something to work on, but IMO that's not of that great importance as it probably will run in the background for most of the time. Bug#439890: zomg and zomghelper lack man pages
Cyril Brulebois wrote: I’m not psychic either, and I had no clue about zomg before you started reporting a grave bug against it. Nonetheless, I had it working. I guess the “No arguments” was such a hint. (Another one is the dependencies, amongst which “mpg123”. Maybe they work in a similar way?) mpg123 plays mp3 files and I do know how to use it. zomg is supposed to be a last.fm client and I would like to know how can I listen to my favourite station. anyone’s mind to try to “zomg some_track_file.ext”? Maybe one should be searching for clicky-clicky interfaces instead. As I've written in previous email, I meant the other function which is playing last.fm stations. I did use clickety-click client but I needed a console one and started using shell-fm. When I saw zomg I thought I might compare those two and maybe start using zomg in place of shell-fm, on which by the way I based my idea of how might a command-line last.fm client work. Is unusable to users that don’t want to think about a possible usage a minimum, and are unable to search for a few documentation on teh intarwebs. If I get the software from the distribution I expect to get the rest from the same place. BTW, don't you have a policy for that? Bug#379102: forecast for 'id' or 'city' and 'st'
Package: weather-util Version: 1.2-1 Followup-For: Bug #379102 Hi, The way I see it, whenever ID is given, the program should ignore the City and St tags from the default section of the configuration file if there's no forecast for that location. Current behaviour is quite confusing, having weather conditions and forecast for different places - it doesn't make much sense. ID should be enough, simply because there no other weather meteo station with the same one. Example: [default] City = London ID = EGLL Conditions = 1 [home] City = London ID = EGKK Conditions = 1 [new] City = New York St = NY Forecast = 1 Obviously, now I know that I won't get the forecast for London, I found it out the hard way - having the 404 error web site code displayed on my terminal. In my opinion whenever I choose an ID, only weather conditions should be displayed and forecast, only when I specifically request it putting the City in the config file, no defaults should be used if either is unavailable. Bug#435643: not working due to lack of btsco
Package: bluetooth-alsa Version: 0.5cvs20070714-1 Severity: normal Hi, Last year I needed to connect my Logitech HS01-V14 headset with my laptop. Back then I had to compile the necessary software myself, so when I eventually found the package in the repo I was very pleased. Unfortunately I'm unable to get the headset working with it. From what I read I understood that, since that's a mono SCO headset, I need btsco to get it working. I noticed that you're the maintainer of the Ubuntu one as well and that there's a bluez-btsco package, unfortunately by someone else. Could you please make it available for Debian or, since it's only btsco that's in the package, simply merge them together? I also found a front-end to it written in python, if you're interested that is. http://www.stgraber.org/category/gbtsco Cheers, Raf -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: powerpc (ppc) Kernel: Linux 2.6.22-1-powerpc Locale: LANG=en_GB.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages bluetooth-alsa depends on: ii libasound2 1.0.14a-2ALSA library ii libbluetooth2 3.12-1 Library to use the BlueZ Linux Blu ii libc6 2.6-5GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libdbus-1-3 1.1.1-3 simple interprocess messaging syst ii libdbus-glib-1-20.74-1 simple interprocess messaging syst ii libglib2.0-02.12.13-1The GLib library of C routines ii libsbc0 0.0cvs20070327-1 Subband codec (SBC) library bluetooth-alsa recommends no packages. -- no debconf information -- -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#435643: not working due to lack of btsco
Krzysztof Burghardt wrote: This is simply not true. Where you read it? /usr/share/doc/bluetooth-alsa/build.html [...] Configure A2DP Driver This driver allows audio to be sent from an alsa client to a stereo bluetooth headset. [...] Configure SCO (aka mono, aka voice) Driver This driver will let you do 2-way audio to and from a mono headset. [...] By this analogy, it somehow implies it. Apparently I wasn't the only one who thought the same. If it's not true, then the docs should be more specific. No. I'm not. Moreover I had never been. AFAIK Ubuntu package was automatically build from Debian sources without any human interaction. OK, I wasn't aware of that. Bluez-btsco is old and deprecated one. Have you read http://bluetooth-alsa.sourceforge.net/build.html (at the end) ? Yes I did. Below I've written a list why I thought it is a good idea. Quoted: If for some reason you need to try the old driver, instead of checking out plugz above, check out btsco and build it the same way. Do we need old driver? New works perfectly for me. What steps you follow to configure it? Steps from html docs in /usr/share/doc/bluetooth-alsa/ Could you please make it available for Debian or, since it's only btsco that's in the package, simply merge them together? Yes, but why? What is the point? As I've written before: 1. It was btsco I used the first time, and it worked. 2. Because the above analogy I thought my device is the old SCO one. 3. Almost every HOWTO/tutorial online on configuring bluetooth headsets has a part with btsco. 4. Because btsco IS used in Ubuntu. Actually I don't care about Ubuntu itself but since it is more luser-friendly, I thought ... 5. Because not so long ago a new version of the graphical front-end for btsco has been released (releasing graphical front-ends for deprecated software seems a bit odd to me). That's why I thought it was a good idea. After your reply it seems it's not, thank you for clarifying that. Can it work or can it be ported to use new driver? Apparently it does work, although one needs to run it as root (IMO it should use some kind of sudo calling mechanism automatically). It only works with btsco but it seems that he's planning to include A2DP support if future releases. It's just a wrapper to btsco, so without knowing the difference between the drivers I can't say whether it is possible, and if so, how hard/easy is it going to be - I'm not a programmer. OK, once again thank you for clarifying it, sorry for the nasty bug report. I guess I'll have to take a deeper look into it. Bug#435643: closed by Krzysztof Burghardt [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Re: Bug#435643: not working due to lack of btsco)
I'm closing bug #435643. It seems that you didn't configure yout BT headset. I did follow the instructions from the docs, but I might have missed something. All you need is to append /usr/share/doc/bluetooth-alsa/sample.asoundrc to your ~/.asoundrc and set default address to point to HW address of your device. Did that the first time, confusion with the naming of the audio device came from sample.a2dpd: Address of your alsa output (default : plughw:0,0) I was looking for the wrong one ;^) E.g.: @args.BDADDR { type string default 00:12:34:56:78:90 # Put your HS address here } I did all that before, but I admit that was looking for an extra card to show up in the system rather than play with the settings. Only thing I gained so far is the ability to change the volume of the headset, but nothing else. Before I was able to change it both in the system and on the headset and changing one affected the other, now changing it on the headset doesn't have any effect on the system (can't hear anything but the volume bar simply doesn't move). I can choose it as mixer in xmms or beep but that prevents the software from playing at all. I tried to record something and that's what I got: ; rec -t alsa headset file.wav rec stio: Failed reading `headset': cannot open audio device ; headsetd -n headsetd[6063]: Bluetooth headset daemon version 0.5 headsetd[6063]: Configuration phase ended: target bdaddr is 00:0D:44:02:F1:1F, timeout is 6000 ms headsetd[6063]: Changing state: Idle--Paging headsetd[6063]: unable to connect L2CAP socket to headset: Permission denied headsetd[6063]: Changing state: Paging--Idle I've attached the output of strace. Than fire up headsetd (with -n to see it's messages). Finally set your application input/output device to headset. It is bi-directional. This is easiest way to get it work. Obviously you have to pair your HS with Bluetooth HCI (Bluetooth dongle) before. Hardware address of device can be obtained using hcitool or sdptool. Bug#432899: file and directory name completion doesn't work properly
Package: rc Version: 1.7.1-3 Severity: normal Hi, This is somewhat related to the bug reported couple of years ago about command completion. That one was indeed a wish-list for a new feature, this one is definitely a bug. If rc completes file and directory names it should somehow escape the special characters if they contain any (.e.g. a space, a semicolon, etc.). I've got couple of ideas how this could be achieved: 1. Automatically applying the quotes wherever they're needed when pressing the Tab - seems reasonable since quotes are already used for that. 2. Adding a bit more functionality to the backslash sign since it only does one thing - sounds most reasonable since it would be both sh and csh compatible. 3. Introducing a whole new way to do it - doesn't seem reasonable to me. P.S. At this time I'm only testing it as an interactive shell, but if this is fixed I'll change my login shell to rc ... command completion wouldn't hurt either. P.P.S. How about aliases? ... Just kidding ;^) Regards, rjc -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: powerpc (ppc) Kernel: Linux 2.6.21-2-powerpc Locale: LANG=en_GB.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages rc depends on: ii libc6 2.6-2 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libncurses5 5.6-3 Shared libraries for terminal hand ii libreadline5 5.2-3 GNU readline and history libraries rc recommends no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#431348: unable to play DVDs, VCDs, etc.
Package: totem-gstreamer Version: 2.18.2-1 Severity: important Hi, I've been using totem for some of the files I have, but I'm unable to play DVDs. This bug is related to #390029 and #423512 but I'm reporting a new one simply because the former says it has been fixed and the latter is simply called an useless action. How my situation differs from the last one? Some drives, as in my iBook, don't have a tray to simply reload the disc, the disc gets ejected and that's it. There are some other pieces of software that one need to reload the disc in order for the software to get the information about the action, be it an audio CD or DVD, but some of them acknowledge that indeed the disc has been inserted to the drive and proceed as normal. With totem, no matter how many times I do it, it is impossible to play it. That's why I have to back Mathias up and call it useless. Please fix it. Bug#424650: appear in taskbar - the clock appears on top when I switch workspaces
Package: cairo-clock Version: 0.3.2-2 Severity: normal Hi, When I check Appear in taskbar and switch to another workspace (the Stick to every workspace is obviously checked as well), the clock always appears on the very top, every time I do it. When I switch workspaces without this option being checked, the clock stays exactly where I left it. Another thing (also annoying) is when I even open the Properties window and switch to another workspace, then the clock appears on the top ... again. I need to put it down every time. How about Stay at the bottom or Stay where I last put you, no matter what ;^) options? You can split this bug report into 2 or 3, at will. P.S. I use E17 if that makes any difference. Bug#421242: system run out of memory while building formats
Package: texlive-base-bin Version: 2007-5 Severity: critical Hi, When the postinst script runs and it comes to 'Building formats', after several minutes of doing so, the system runs out of memory. The process eats all the available memory, both phisical (512MB RAM) and virtual (1GB swap). After that the system simply freezes and is unrecoverable. Regards, rjc -- Package-specific info: If you report an error when running one of the TeX-related binaries (latex, pdftex, metafont,...), or if the bug is related to bad or wrong output, please include a MINIMAL example input file that produces the error in your report. Don't forget to also include minimal examples of other files that are needed, e.g. bibtex databases. Often it also helps to include the logfile. Please, never send included pictures! I note you seem to be running a -vserver- kernel, which if memory serves is a sort of virtualization thing; is it possible this causes issues? Do you have a different machine you can try on? Any custom permissions on /var? Does /var/lib/onak get correctly created by the package? I assume it remains empty? I'll try it on sparc and on this one with a kernel without -vserver- as soon as I get the time. Can't do it now though, sorry. I haven't changed /var permitions and yes, /var/lib/onak does get created and it's empty. Regards, -- rjc -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Tried on non-virtual kernel, it doesn't have anything to do with it - - still the same thing. Regards, -- rjc -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Bug#414090: 'I' letter missing on the board display
Package: gnugo Version: 3.7.10-1 Severity: minor Hi. The goban consists of a 19x19 grid, horozontal lines are numbered from 1 to 19 and the vertical ones are lettered: A B C D E F G H J K L M N O P Q R S T Since there are all numbers from 1 to 19, it doesn't make much of a sense to omit 'I'. I haven't found any explanation for that anyway. Is there any? Bug#413762: database files being created in the root ('/') directory
Jonathan McDowell wrote: No, indeed not. I get the files correctly created in /var/lib/onak when I install the package. Was this a package upgrade or a fresh install? What does your /etc/onak.conf contain? It was a fresh install and the conf file is the one provided in the package. Also after reconfiguring the package I got: $ dpkg-reconfigure onak The user `onak' already exists as a system user. Exiting. [07/03/2007 08:45:36] [11272]: Couldn't open num_keydb: No such file or directory [07/03/2007 08:45:36] [11272]: Couldn't write num_keydb: No such file or directory I didn't notice that yesterday. I purged the package and installed it again, I got the very same thing. Another thing is that it doesn't remove system user onak after I've purged the package.
