Description : Purely functional package manager

A powerful package manager for Linux and other Unix systems that
makes package management reliable and reproducible. Nix provides
atomic upgrades and rollbacks, side-by-side installation of
multiple
versions of a package, multi-user package management and easy
setup of

 build environments.

I personally use it to install software that is not part of Debian
or

software that I need in a newer version.

My packaging efforts can be found here [1].

I am looking for a sponsor.

Have you made any progress on this?
I discovered the package manager today and I think it would be
great to

 have it in Debian.

Regarding getting nix included into Debian, no. First this [1] must be
solved. But the packaging itself should work, you can build a Debian
package yourself by cloning the repository [2] and following the
instructions in the README.

Thanks for the info Kai
1. I hope the PR finds a way into the upstream source code soon.
2. I dont need a deb use the package myself, installed from source
although helpful If I need to distribute with peers.

You have already done the packaging as well.

We should decide on, if I should close my original ITP instead?

But as a compliance practice, I should have been notified, before you
filing the ITP or doing the update to Salsa.

If this just has been a mistake (things happen. :-) )
I am fine with closing the orginal ITP from my side as well.

Atleast I don't see an RFS there. Please upload the package at the

Hi Paride,

I understand the need for you to file an ITP with this.
But this is a duplicate ITP, I have already filed an ITP for this.

https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=896488

I request you to please close this ITP.

and I'll finish this package at the earliest.
I understand that you require it for browsh.
I also need this dependency for micro

https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=13

I see that you have already pushed the source code on Salsa, apparently
without the debian directory.
I am already done with packaging this locally on my machine back in
April. Don't know what got in the way
that I have not pushed it to Salsa.

I'll push this package to Salsa and send an RFS. I will not keep you
waiting.
All the best packaging browsh !
