I experienced the same problem yesterday (debian testing), thanks for the quick fix. As a suggestion for those on testing while waiting the fix, temporary downgrading mate-panel, mate-panel-common and libmate-panel-applet to 1.27.0-1 makes them work again. Regards, SV
