Bug#672972: Wheezy: VLC player can't play videos
Michel Dänzer daen...@debian.org wrote: Hence my repeated request for isolating if and where VLC is hanging, or what else it is doing when the video output is frozen. Tried again to enable logging in vlc, specified the log file name, Log Format = Text, Syslog facility = User, Verbosity = 10, but no log file was created after vlc had hanged. I can try again but I'm not sure what needs to be changed to get vlc to log what it's doing. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#693742: More information.
- Original Message - From: Raúl Sánchez Siles rasas...@gmail.com What was the latest version of KVIrc that you can remember that feature was available? I believe it was available in lenny or squeeze (lenny is more likely). There is still a similar option if you do right mouse button on the network name, in the window list. The option name is close all queries. That option wasn't available to me until I restored the default scripts, as you had suggested. All I had there was Logging, that it. It's a bit weird because I don't remember changing anything in the scripts, ever. Anyway, Close all queries came back, which is great. Thanks a lot for your help. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact listmas...@lists.debian.org

Bug#672972: Broken Xvideo extension on Radeon HD 4200
It should be evident, but you need to run xvinfo, glxinfo and xdpyinfo from within the X session. Just going through my old bugs... I've enclosed xvinfo.txt and xdpyinfo.txt, perhaps that will help. I'm still using VLC in the same fashion I did before, that is, by setting Video Settings | Output to X11 Video Output (XCB). If the output is set to Default, VLC hangs. # aptitude show vlc Version: 2.0.3-3X-Video Extension version 2.2 screen #0 no adaptors present name of display::0 version number:11.0 vendor string:The X.Org Foundation vendor release number:11204000 X.Org version: 1.12.4 maximum request size: 16777212 bytes motion buffer size: 256 bitmap unit, bit order, padding:32, LSBFirst, 32 image byte order:LSBFirst number of supported pixmap formats:7 supported pixmap formats: depth 1, bits_per_pixel 1, scanline_pad 32 depth 4, bits_per_pixel 8, scanline_pad 32 depth 8, bits_per_pixel 8, scanline_pad 32 depth 15, bits_per_pixel 16, scanline_pad 32 depth 16, bits_per_pixel 16, scanline_pad 32 depth 24, bits_per_pixel 32, scanline_pad 32 depth 32, bits_per_pixel 32, scanline_pad 32 keycode range:minimum 8, maximum 255 focus: window 0x2600012, revert to PointerRoot number of extensions:27 BIG-REQUESTS Composite DAMAGE DOUBLE-BUFFER DPMS DRI2 GLX Generic Event Extension MIT-SCREEN-SAVER MIT-SHM RANDR RECORD RENDER SECURITY SGI-GLX SHAPE SYNC X-Resource XC-MISC XFIXES XFree86-DGA XFree86-VidModeExtension XINERAMA XInputExtension XKEYBOARD XTEST XVideo default screen number:0 number of screens:1 screen #0: dimensions:1920x1080 pixels (508x285 millimeters) resolution:96x96 dots per inch depths (7):24, 1, 4, 8, 15, 16, 32 root window id:0x140 depth of root window:24 planes number of colormaps:minimum 1, maximum 1 default colormap:0x20 default number of colormap cells:256 preallocated pixels:black 0, white 16777215 options:backing-store NO, save-unders NO largest cursor:64x64 current input event mask:0xfac031 KeyPressMask EnterWindowMask LeaveWindowMask KeymapStateMask ExposureMask StructureNotifyMask SubstructureNotifyMask SubstructureRedirectMask FocusChangeMask PropertyChangeMask ColormapChangeMask number of visuals:96 default visual id: 0x21 visual: visual id:0x21 class:TrueColor depth:24 planes available colormap entries:256 per subfield red, green, blue masks:0xff, 0xff00, 0xff significant bits in color specification:8 bits visual: visual id:0x22 class:DirectColor depth:24 planes available colormap entries:256 per subfield red, green, blue masks:0xff, 0xff00, 0xff significant bits in color specification:8 bits visual: visual id:0xe2 class:TrueColor depth:24 planes available colormap entries:256 per subfield red, green, blue masks:0xff, 0xff00, 0xff significant bits in color specification:8 bits visual: visual id:0xe3 class:TrueColor depth:24 planes available colormap entries:256 per subfield red, green, blue masks:0xff, 0xff00, 0xff significant bits in color specification:8 bits visual: visual id:0xe4 class:TrueColor depth:24 planes available colormap entries:256 per subfield red, green, blue masks:0xff, 0xff00, 0xff significant bits in color specification:8 bits visual: visual id:0xe5 class:TrueColor depth:24 planes available colormap entries:256 per subfield red, green, blue masks:0xff, 0xff00, 0xff significant bits in color specification:8 bits visual: visual id:0xe6 class:TrueColor depth:24 planes available colormap entries:256 per subfield red, green, blue masks:0xff, 0xff00, 0xff significant bits in color specification:8 bits visual: visual id:0xe7 class:TrueColor depth:24 planes available colormap entries:256 per subfield red, green, blue masks:0xff, 0xff00, 0xff significant bits in color specification:8 bits visual: visual id:0xe8 class:TrueColor depth:24 planes available colormap entries:256 per subfield red, green, blue masks:0xff, 0xff00, 0xff significant bits in color specification:8 bits visual: visual id:0xe9 class:TrueColor depth:24 planes available colormap entries:256 per subfield red, green, blue masks:0xff, 0xff00, 0xff significant bits in color specification:8 bits visual: visual id:
Bug#611272: Can't run KDE apps as root (Alt+F2)
Please could you confirm it's working on newer version of kde ? Otherwise, I will close the bug in a month, as it's working perfectly here. I'm running wheezy and it doesn't work for me, though I can't reproduce the OP's instructions: To reproduce: Alt+F2, type Dolphin, then click on the wrench in the Run Dolphin, then check Run as a different user checkbox, enter the username (root) and password. Dolphin starts seemingly with the same user's privileges instead of root's, no error message or other indication is given that something's wrong. Once I do Alt+F2 and type Dolphin, I see Dolphin/File Manager item but I see no wrench and no Run Dolphin thingies and I can't find a way to run apps (for example, Dolphin) as root from Alt+F2 either. Bug#693742: Wheezy: What happened to Close All Queries?
Package: kvirc Version: 4:4.1.3+2024.svn5988-2 A while ago (perhaps in the previous release in squeeze or lenny) Kvirc had a feature: Close All Queries or Close Queries, something like that. It was a nice feature to have, one would RMB-click on a channel and select Close All Queries and Kvirc would close all open query windows with just a couple of clicks. Very nice. But now it's gone. What happened to it? What was the reason for removing it? How can I get it back? Thanks -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? In any case, please attach the output of the command 'xvinfo', 'xdpyinfo' and ideally also the file /var/log/Xorg.0.log. That would contain enough information for the maintainers of the respective driver package to investigate the lack of XV further. 'xvinfo' and 'xdpyinfo' don't produce much of an output: # xvinfo No protocol specified xvinfo: Unable to open display :0 # xdpyinfo No protocol specified xdpyinfo: unable to open display :0. Bug#675386: Wheezy: (Blinking) cursor lags makes klavaro difficult to use
Package: klavaro Version: 1.9.4-1 I tried klavaro after a break and found that after upgrades klavaro became almost unusable. Particularly, I'm referring to the very first lesson of the Basic Course. My problem is that when I type the blinking cursor lag makes it difficult to understand what letter I should type next, leading to confusion and unnecessary errors. It feels like there is a delay between pressing a button and seeing the respective change on the screen. I understand that the color of letters change from black to dark green after they have been typed but the difference on my monitor between black and dark green colors is difficult to see. Possible solutions: 1. Change the cursor from blinking cursor to steady cursor that moves to the next letter with very little lag. and/or 2. Add a config option to change the color of the font that used to show passed letters, for example, to bright blue instead of dark green. Package: iceweasel Version: 10.0.3esr-3 Iceweasel is no longer using busy cursor as per KDE cursor theme. Bug#651577: Wheezy: Iceweasel: Login fails with Skype buttons for kopete plugin disabled
Package: iceweasel Version: 8.0-3+b1 I'm experiencing a weird problem when I'm not able to log in to my bank- account if I disable the Skype buttons for kopete plugin in iceweasel. Login attempts just fail with a cryptic Unable to Process Request - Try Again Later or Contact Customer Support message. I had struggled with this problem for a while and was able to identify it to the pluginreg.dat file in my profile and then to the enabled/disabled state of the Skype buttons plugin. If the plugin is enabled then I can log in, if it's disabled then I can't. I'm kind of puzzled and concerned why my bank- transactions should have anything to do with the Skype buttons or Kopete. Any ideas? It would be nice if it could be solved without the nonfree firmware Second that. I since removed the firmware-linux-nonfree package because it was causing some weird video effects with some applications. For example, 1. Some kvirc windows that are constantly updating would black out (sometimes as long as 1-2 seconds) before an update is made. Without firmware-linux-nonfree such effect is not observed. 2. Though I was able to log out without hanging with firmware-linux-nonfree installed, the last screen was garbled, with parts of the picture severely distorted. Package: xserver-xorg-video-radeon Version: 1:6.14.2-1 Severity: important Am having problems with KDE in wheezy: 1. KDE hangs on logout (Kmenu-Leave-Logout). Logging out results in a blank black screen and the system just hangs there, hardware reset is needed to reboot the system. When rebooted the system restarts and KDE works fine with the exception that it doesn't remember previous display settings (see below). 2. KDE refuses to remember display resolution settings: I set it to 1600x1200 and click the Save as Default button, yet after logging out (and hanging and resetting, see #1 above) KDE reverts to 1280x1024 Auto mode. When I was upgrading to wheezy from squeeze, there were warnings that some drivers were moved to the non-free area but I didn't install any non-free drivers after the upgrade.
