Bug#988475: more details

2021-05-13 Thread Thanatermesis
Note 1: Seems like this happens with the new kernels from backports but not
the one provided by the default distro

Note 2: The issue happens also with the package 'ddcci-dkms', so im not
sure how much is related to the dkms package(s) or with the new kernels
from backports?

Bug#988475: openrazer-driver-dkms: package removes essential files from linux-header package

2021-05-13 Thread Thanatermesis
Package: openrazer-driver-dkms
Version: 2.4.0+dfsg-1
Severity: normal

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA256

Installing this package causes files from the linux-header package to be
removed, this is imho a very important issue affecting the rest of the
OS

I noticed by installing the openrazer-driver-dkms package and then
noticing that other modules doesn't compile, after a long research I
found that the cause was this package the one that deletes essential
files, more exactly this one:

/usr/src/linux-headers-5.10.0-0.bpo.5-amd64/include/generated/autoconf.h

Using another kernel (5.9) happens the same thing

There's a piece of the LOG generated by the emodule where we can see how
it removes the files:

$ cat /var/lib/dkms/openrazer-driver/2.4.0/build/make.log

The only way to make the system able to compile other modules is by
reinstalling the header files

Thank you,

Bug#928891: linux-image-amd64: Kernel crash when using any disk that uses reiserfs

2019-05-12 Thread Thanatermesis
Package: linux-image-amd64
Version: 4.19+104
Severity: important

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA256

Dear Maintainer,

When using any partition which uses reiserfs, the kernel crashes

This happens very easily by just using the reiser (v3) filesystem, some
of my external hard disks uses it (so I cannot make use of them), or
partition mountpoints with reiserfs becomes totally unusable and
dangerous

This bug is easily reproducible by creating a new reiserfs partition
(image file probably too) and start using it, so it looks like it
specially affects in RW operations

I suggest to mark this bug as a serious one since there's so many people
using this filesystem, in desktops or servers.

The package is the last one available on the buster branch

Thank you

Bug#717171: live-build: IMG images doesn't build due to a change in the sources

2013-07-17 Thread Thanatermesis
Package: live-build
Version: 3.0.5-1
Severity: important
Tags: patch

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA256

live-build doesn't generate IMG (usb) images because a modification in
the code (previous versions of live-build worked), so this is a kind of
revert for that code of only 2 lines for the parted command, i don't
know if the new versions of parted requires a different command but at
least the version in wheezy needs to be set on that way or the build of
images will simply fail, see the attached patch

Thanks

Bug#704571: live-build: Listing flavours in syslinux step does a wrong matching

2013-04-02 Thread Thanatermesis
Package: live-build
Version: 3.0.1-1
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA256

Build fails if you include a kernel in the flavours like the ones from
experimental that has a different name, for example on this case it
fails with a structure like this:

vmlinuz-3.2.0-4-486
vmlinuz-3.2.0-4-686-pae
vmlinuz-3.8-trunk-686-pae

Just like you can see in this paste with the error:
http://paste.debian.net/236002/
You can see the error in the expansion on the line 28 which includes 2
times a vmlinuz file, as how SynrG told me in the chat the solution
should be:

SynrG step 1. remember which flavour is which sequence #
SynrG step 2. sort all flavours by length, longest 1st
SynrG step 3. iteratively match all flavours, removing them from the list of
kernels to match whenever we have a match
SynrG step 4. rename all matched vmlinuz-* to vmlinuz#
SynrG if you can figure out how to do that in shell, be my guest :)

The attached patch should solve the problem, it was tested in a sandbox
(simulated) environment with the result included in the comments but not
in a real build since I was able to install the kernel 3.7 from
experimental but not the 3.8 one (broken dependencies), however I readed
the code and it should not conflict in the rest of the script behaviour

Thanks
Thanatermesis

This is the updated patch which I verified that works with the
parameters shown in the report of this bug, but it will required a minor
change (like: vmlinuz-*-$VAR to be vmlinuz-*$VAR), otherwise it doesn't
works with the flavour 3.8 from the previous example.

I verified it in a build and it worked and boots correctly with all the
flavours

Bug#702295: zenity: Zenity windows get TOO HIGH when text contains many words

2013-03-04 Thread Thanatermesis
Package: zenity
Version: 3.4.0-2
Severity: important

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA256

- --info , --warning , --error windows get higher for each word which is
added to
the text.
Seems like useless blank lines are added below the text.

This is a big usability issue for all the applications using Zenity, which
apt-cache rdepends can show a good number of them

HOW TO REPRODUCE:
zenity --info --text='A b c d e f g h i j k l m n o p q r s t u v w x y
z'
zenity --warning --text='A b c d e f g h i j k l m n o p q r s t u v w x
y z'
zenity --error --text='A b c d e f g h i j k l m n o p q r s t u v w x y
z'
zenity --error
- --text='A-b-c-d-e-f-g-h-i-j-k-l-m-n-o-p-q-r-s-t-u-v-w-x-y-z'

Examples which DON'T have the bug:
zenity --question --text='A b c d e f g h i j k l m n o p q r s t u v w
x y z'
zenity --error
- --text='A,b,c,d,e,f,g,h,i,j,k,l,m,n,o,p,q,r,s,t,u,v,w,x,y,z'

Note that this bug was already reported on ubuntu too, which still
exist on their version 3.6.0 of the package, I re-used some contents
of that report and the link to it is:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/zenity/+bug/1087520

Bug#695353: tumbler: Unable to umount devices

2012-12-07 Thread Thanatermesis
Package: tumbler
Version: 0.1.25-1+b1
Severity: important

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA256

There's a lot of cases that I'm simply unable to umount pluggable devices (usb
sticks, usb hard disks, etc...), I found that the cause is a remaining
(zombie?) process of tumblerd, by doing killall tumblerd i can then umount
the devices

I marked the severity as important because a common user without
advanced knowledges will be simply not able to umount their devices,
forcing him to unplug it manually without mount, this will lead to
corrupted data which imho is absolutely unacceptable, specially for a
stable release of debian.

Thanks

2012-11-19 Thread Thanatermesis
Package: live-build
Version: 3.0~a67-1
Followup-For: Bug #685924

Hi again,
After to review the comments I suppose that you are right about your
point, by other side like i said, this patch originated from a bug, so
this is a new proposed patch for the real bug

* first part: a simple typo in the deconfigure actions
* like you can see in the patch and the comment of my old report, is a wrong
check (wants to act to the .orig file but it checks it exist another one)

Old report extract:
I have a .pref file in config/chroot_apt/ , in the deconfigure step it exit
with an error about mv dir/file.pref.orig not found...

Bug#693242: live-build: apt-get autoclean doesn't remove old versions

2012-11-14 Thread Thanatermesis
Package: live-build
Version: 3.0~a67-1
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA256

The apt-get autoclean command removes extra packages in the chroot but
the cache has an incremental and growing size, which can be seen with
this command that shows only same-packagenames: ls -1 cache/packages.chroot/ |
sort | sed 's|_.*$||g' | uniq -d

A patch is included for fix this problem, which maintains only the last
versions in the cache directory

Bug#693250: live-build: wrong copy of files from config/archives/repo.pref.chroot

2012-11-14 Thread Thanatermesis

If you have preferences in 'config/archives/something.pref.chroot', it
will prompt a build error like:

+ [ -e config/archives/elive_priority.pref.chroot ]
+ basename .chroot
+ cp config/archives/.chroot chroot/etc/apt/preferences.d

The attached patch solves this problem, which seems to be made by a
wrong copy-paste

Bug#691362: zenity: glib errors for unfinished input and slow rendering

2012-10-24 Thread Thanatermesis
Package: zenity
Version: 3.4.0-2
Severity: normal

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA256

This bug happens originally by a slow rendering interface, but can
be considered also other bugs that comes from this slowness, so let's
reproduce first the first problem:

$ seq 1  | zenity --list --column=File --column=Country
--column=Provider --hide-column=1 --text=select a configuration
--height=420 --width=440

This generates a big list of options, but we can see that the list is
generated pretty slow even on powerful machines, this makes the zenity
interface pretty unstable if we pick an option before that the entire
list finishes to be generated, for example, if we do it with the mouse
and click in Ok, we have FD descriptor bug like this one:

(zenity:13784): GLib-WARNING **:
/build/buildd-glib2.0_2.33.12+really2.32.4-2-i386-TMMpf5/glib2.0-2.33.12+really2.32.4/./glib/giounix.c:411Error
while getting flags for FD: Bad file descriptor (9)

If we do the same but using the keyboard instead of the mouse
(arrow-keys down + enter), the enter doesn't seems to act until we press
it multiple times, when finally got it we have a lot of errors in the
terminal and some values that seems to come from the input, like:

(zenity:13846): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_value_unset: assertion `G_IS_VALUE
(value)' failed (null)205(null)205(null)205(null)20514205(null)20513

Bug#685924: live-build: description of my case and patch

2012-08-27 Thread Thanatermesis
Package: live-build
Version: 3.0~a57-1
Followup-For: Bug #685924

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA256

In my case, I have a .pref file in config/chroot_apt/ , in the
deconfigure step it exit with an error about mv dir/file.pref.orig not
found, after to look at the code of the patched file it seems like it
does the wrong thing in the deconfigure step, so if im correct, the idea is:

- - in the install step it puts the original file to a saved copy and use ours,
when finishes (deconfigure) it puts back the original one)

This patch removes some code that looks wrong for me (a typo in
copy-pasting the step for deconfigure?), and the bug is gone there

Bug#476284: Packaging sources

2012-08-01 Thread Thanatermesis

Hi,

I have made a debian build for this package, it may require minor
modifications but can be used for package bullet, the copyright is
correctly configured, standards with new lib arch mode, and the watch
file is working

Bug#502882: exo-utils: more permissions problems

2008-10-20 Thread Thanatermesis
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Package: exo-utils
Version: 0.3.4-7
Severity: Important

Inserting a CD-RW with data in order to burn it with brasero, is not
possible since the CD is mounted by thunar and there's no options to
umount it

I think that the severity of this bug is pretty grave because made the
system unable to record CDs to the end-users, you can record them
umounting the cdrom mounted previously by thunar (thunar-volman) but
there's no option to umount in thunar, only eject, by other side i
don't think that needed to umount first is the solution since the
user just has a problem burning a cd without imagine that needs to
open thunar to umount it (not has much sense)

Looks like to be exactly this problem:
http://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3142 but using brasero
instead of XFburn

There's a reply on the bugzilla of xfce saying that should be fixed in
the svn version

Note: The cd is mounted because is a cd-rw with data on it, so
exo-mount by thunar mounts it

correctly in the version 5.96 of coreutils, the problem still happens

Bug#496577: Prompt acts wrong and the cursor goes to wrong positions

2008-08-25 Thread Thanatermesis - Elive
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Package: bash
Version: 3.2-4

The prompt acts strange, the better way to understand what does is
reproducing it, for that: run the command sleep 10 in a terminal,
then inmediately start typing random characters in the terminal in
order to fit the full line plus the 50 percent of the next one (so one
line + 1/2), now just wait that the 10 seconds finishes to recover the
prompt, when it appears, start erasing (backspace key) all the flood
of characters that you have typed, when you have finished to erase
both lines you then see the bug, the line is not 'reloaded' correctly
giving you wrong position of the cursor, it erases your prompt

In a version that this works correctly (like the bash of ETCH) when
you have finished to remove the second line, the first line does a
kind of 'reload' and the prompt its positioned in the first place of
the line, the position of the cursor are perfectly scrollable in the
text and everything's ok

Note: version 3.1dfsg-8 works correctly

Greetings

If you dump the file with od -Ax -txLz file.sh | head -1 you look
the first line like:

Bug#404860: Posible fix

2007-02-17 Thread Thanatermesis - Elive

After to make some tests with one person (friend) to has this problem,
I have solved it rebuilding xsane package changing the option:

- --enable-gimp

by:

- --disable-gimp --enable-gimp2

Now, that person can launch gimp with xsane packages (this build)
installed, looking at the options of configure.sh, i see the options
- --enable-gimp and --enable-gimp2, but im not totally sure if gimp
support is added on it because the logs of the build, in the
check/verify stuff of configure.sh say's to gimp is disabled, I have
tried gimp on my machine and now I don't see 2 options of acquire
scanner, but only one... anyways Im not sure if is enabled the
support of the scanners, I don't have a scanner for try it, btw I have
forget to say to my friend don't has too a scanner (not need to have
scanner for have that bug of gimp)

Greetings

Bug#391650: Better description of the problem + example to try

2006-10-08 Thread Thanatermesis - Elive
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Ok, my report is not totally correct before, i have looked a little to
it and you can try this steps:

1) set debconf to use gnome: dpkg-reconfigure debconf
2) look if gnome interface works: dpkg-reconfigure -fgnome console-data
3) if works, try a simple 'dpkg-reconfigure console-data', your
debconf is actually set to use gnome, but you have a error message saying:

debconf: no se pudo inicializar la interfaz: GNOME
 debconf: (Can't locate Debconf/FrontEnd/GNOME.pm in @INC (@INC
contains: /etc/perl /usr/local/lib/perl/5.8.8
/usr/local/share/perl/5.8.8 /usr/lib/perl5 /usr/share/perl5
/usr/lib/perl/5.8 /usr/share/perl/5.8 /usr/local/lib/site_perl .) at
(eval 19) line 2.)
debconf: probando ahora la interfaz: Noninteractive
 Looking for keymap to install:

Here happens 2 things:

1) debconf not is launched how Gnome (how is actually set)
2) debconf switch to noninteractive instead of dialog (your before
default front-end and the one to try to switch in the older versions
of debconf, atleast in my experience)

Tested on the version 1.5.3 and works good, and fails after to update
to 1.5.5

Bug#391650: 'dpkg-reconfigure debconf' not works

2006-10-07 Thread Thanatermesis - Elive
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-

Package: debconf
Version: 1.5.5

On the new version of debconf (to aparently now remembers the before
frontend type selected, before just try's the better option if the
actual fails), don't permit to dpkg-reconfigure debconf if your last
selection is 'noninteractive', the manual way to solve this is
'dpkg-reconfigure -fdialog debconf', but of course not is the idea
when you want just to configure this

Bug#377294: new concept of upgrading configuration fails on versions management

2006-07-07 Thread Thanatermesis - Elive
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Package: xserver-xorg
Version: 1:7.0.22

I'm building a new debootsrap system, and if i try to configure it
with dpkg-reconfigure, it doesn't write xorg.conf file. With a set
- -x i have traced the /var/lib/dpkg/info/xserver-xorg.postinst and
when i took a look to it, i've understood it was an update, but as
long as my xorg.conf file is clean (blank file), he won't upgrade
anything and the xorg.conf file will continue blank... Then i needed
to confuse the script, exactly on the line 1669:

# here's a new concept: DON'T TOUCH THE CONFIG ON UPGRADES
if [ -z $UPGRADE ] || dpkg --compare-versions $2 le 1:7.0.14; then

i had to change the version 1:7.0.14 to 1:7.0.22 so deboostrap will
skip upgrading a file that has nothing (blank), but writing instead a
real file from your config or debconf

After that, i also needed to run this:

touch /etc/X11/xorg.conf
md5sum /etc/X11/xorg.conf /var/lib/x11/xorg.conf.md5sum

to accept the MD5SUM verification

Well, i know that this bug is a little riddled and it can be
produced by different things. IMHO my recomm. is simply this... before
all, have a look to xorg.conf file, and see if it exists. if it
doesn't, touch it and generate the new md5sum verification (same to
my 2 last commands), and then, DO NOT use the upgrade way when is
called on the postinst script (same to the thing explained first)

If any question about this, just email me
