Thanks, Varun -- Varun Hiremath Ph.D. Student, Cornell University, Ithaca, NY ---BeginMessage--- Hello Varun, I am sorry for long delay, i was a little bit busy. This bug is raised by new libsmbclient library too. libsmbclient-3.2 has practically the same api as libsmbclient-3.0 but has changed internally a lot. The most notable change is the broken possibility to use several samba context simultaneously without interlocking. libsmbclient-3.0 support this feature while libsmbclient-3.2 does not (see https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5847) SMBNetFS relay on that libsmbclient-3.0 feature. It can be changed quite easily at the price of much longer SMBNetFS responsibility. Summarizing things: SMBNetFS require libsmbclient-3.0. If it can not be fulfilled for upcoming debian release, it will be better to drop SMBNetFS support from debian testing. PS: I am currently working on proper porting of SMBNetFS to samba-3.2 but this require a huge amount of changes. Instead simply use - java -jar /usr/share/java/jftp.jar $@ jftp doesn't load with java-gcj and some of the other free JREs. It only works with sun jre and openjdk jre. The versions that seem to fix this problem -- xserver 1.5.0 and libgl1-mesa-dri 7.1 are both available in debian/experimental, though I haven't tried them yet. from a message by Colin on enthought-dev. It would be great if someone with the problem could figure out if this is really a Xserver problem or the intel driver problem and try and get this into Debian quickly. Also, was some explorer function removed from mayavi2 in the new version? Not sure. Envisage plugins have changed so the explorer may not be exposed in the shell, however, I am not sure where the explorer is in the 3.x code base or if it works at all. That was a Pyface/traits package that I did not write... :( Okay, thanks. For instance we can consider the test case I prepared for bug #400406 (see [1] and [2]). [1] http://bugs.debian.org/400406 [2] http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi/vtk-multiblockPLOT3D-bug-test.tar.gz?bug=400406;msg=5;att=1 That test case is based on a little PLOT3D grid ('tiny.xyz') and solution ('tiny.q'), generated by a simple Fortran program ('gen_tinyplot3d.f') on a little-endian machine. The PLOT3D grid is composed of 5 blocks, each one of which consists of a single cubic cell. $ tar xvzf vtk-multiblockPLOT3D-bug-test.tar.gz $ ls gen_tinyplot3d.f tiny.qvtk-multiblockPLOT3D-bug-test.tar.gz list_plot3d.pytiny.xyz $ mayavi2 The main window shows up. * from menus, select File - Load data - PLOT3D file * as XYZ Co-ordinate file, select `tiny.xyz' * as Q Solution file, select `tiny.q' * select PLOT3D:tiny.xyz, tiny.q in the MayaVi pane * in the PLOT3DReader tab (inside the object editor), check Binary file, Do not reduce number of outputs, Has byte count, and Multi grid; *un*check Force read, I blanking, and Two dimensional geometry; select little_endian Byte order * in the Reader tab, click on the Update Reader button OK, now we are ready to visualize the data... * from menus, select Visualize - Modules - Surface (a blue square shows up in the TVTK scene) * from menus, select Visualize - Modules - Axes (coordinate ranges show up, confirming that we are seeing the first grid block, where 1 = X = 2) OK, back to the PLOT3DReader tab: where's the option to select which grid blocks I want to load?!? I really cannot find it... I would like to have a means to decide which grid blocks will be loaded (e.g.: I want to load block 1, 2, and 4, but not the remaining two), so that a number of PLOT3D:tiny.xyz, tiny.q objects are automatically created, each one corresponding to one of the requested grid blocks (e.g.: three objects are created, corresponding to blocks 1, 2, and 4). Please note that this decision may be taken only after PLOT3D properties (such as Binary file, Has byte count, and so forth) have been specified, or otherwise the total number of blocks present in the PLOT3D file will not be computed correctly... Thanks for this detailed report. It looks more like a wishlist bug. I'm forwarding this upstream. Bug#477766: afuse bug
Hi Jeremy, (I am CCing Timothy - original bug reporter) On Sun, 27 Apr, 2008 at 06:15:42PM -0400, Jeremy Maitin-Shepard wrote: Varun Hiremath [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: Hi Jeremy, The old afuse bug regarding auto unmounting has come back. Could you please take a look at this bug report: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=477766 Any help would be appreciated. I believe the issue is that the script that he is setting afuse to invoke is doing something invalid --- afuse does not expect him to be calling rmdir on the mount point and then creating a symlink in its place. The changes with the new version may indeed prevented his script from working, but I don't believe afuse is designed to support it. Creating a bind mount should work, though. Jeremy: Thanks for the info. Timothy: As Jeremy says, afuse is not designed for this particular task. Could you please check your script again? Bug#478017: [Python-apps-team] Bug#478017: mayavi2 crashes instantly on startup
tags 478017 unreproducible thanks Hi, On Sat, 26 Apr, 2008 at 12:14:40PM +0200, [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Package: mayavi2 Version: 2.1.1-2 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable A few days ago mayavi2 worked fine. Now, however, running $ mayavi2 crashes instantly: the gui window appears, but right after that gnome's bug buddy appears. The not-too-informative crash output is attached. This might be related to the fact that I upgraded (with 'aptitude safe-upgrade') recently. I can't reproduce this bug. Could you please try upgrading to mayavi2 2.1.1-2+b1. Many packages were recently rebuilt against Python 2.5 as the default Python version in unstable has been switched to 2.5. This problem could be related, so please try upgrading mayavi2 and its dependencies to the latest versions in unstable. Bug#477766: afuse: always unmounts filesystems immediately after mounting them
Hi Timothy, On Fri, 25 Apr, 2008 at 01:34:46AM -0400, Timothy G Abbott wrote: Package: afuse Version: 0.2-2 Severity: normal I'm used afuse to mount symlinks into AFS, and just upgraded to version 0.2-2. The new version has extremely poor performance, which I've traced to the fact that it unmounts volumes (removes the symlink) immediately after creating it each time. This seems to be the same issue as http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=470038, but that bug is supposed to be fixed in 0.2-2. Could you please try passing -o timeout=some high value to afuse (as suggested in #470038) and tell me if the problem still persists? Bug#472021: Please adopt the package

We already had pyflakes injected in the team repository[1]; what I did is integrate the Varun's debdiff into such repository, adopting for the team (adding we three as uploaders) and few other changes. If Tristan has no objections, wa can upload this version, waiting for new upstream release. Great! Thanks for your work. I have uploaded the package.
