Bug#1053965: libcairo2: Ugly Tahoma font rendering since version 1.17

2023-10-14 Thread Zbynek Michl
Package: libcairo2
Version: 1.16.0-7
Severity: normal
X-Debbugs-Cc: zbynek.mi...@gmail.com

Hello,

I have recently upgraded libcairo2 from 1.16.0 to 1.17.8 in my distro (Debian
Trixie). Since that rendering of Tahoma font in Xfce is broken.

Sample screenshots before and after the upgrade are attached.

I have found a similar issue reported here:
https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/64451

Thank you
Zbynek

Bug#961834: Any updates?

2022-02-03 Thread Zbynek Michl
Hello,

is reported issue still valid? I use this theme in Debian Bookworm (Xfce
4.16) and I can't see any trouble with it.

I would appreciate returning the package to the repo if there is no real
blocker anymore.

Thank you

Bug#983595: linux-image-5.10.0-3-amd64: [regression] Kernel panic on resume from sleep

2021-03-06 Thread Zbynek Michl
So really it was a bug in the alx driver - there was a wrong call order on
resume.

Jakub Kicinski has fixed it in the vanilla kernel:
https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/netdev/net.git/commit/?id=a4dcfbc4ee2218abd567d81d795082d8d4afcdf6

Bug#971044: iputils-ping: ping reports socket error when IPv6 is disabled

2020-09-29 Thread Zbynek Michl
Here is the upstream bug report: https://github.com/iputils/iputils/issues/293

Regards
Zbynek

Bug#971044: iputils-ping: ping reports socket error when IPv6 is disabled

2020-09-26 Thread Zbynek Michl
Package: iputils-ping
Version: 3:20200821-2
Severity: normal
X-Debbugs-Cc: zbynek.mi...@gmail.com

Dear Maintainer,

After iputils-ping upgrade to the recent version (3:20200821-2) I can see this
error message when trying to ping any IPv4 address.

# ping -c 1 127.0.0.1
ping: socket: Address family not supported by protocol
PING 127.0.0.1 (127.0.0.1) 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from 127.0.0.1: icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=0.041 ms

--- 127.0.0.1 ping statistics ---
1 packets transmitted, 1 received, 0% packet loss, time 0ms
rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 0.041/0.041/0.041/0.000 ms

It seems that it is because ping tries to open an IPv6 socket:

# strace ping -c 1 127.0.0.1 2>&1 | grep 'AF_INET6'
socket(AF_INET6, SOCK_DGRAM, IPPROTO_ICMPV6) = -1 EAFNOSUPPORT (Address family
not supported by protocol)

I have IPv6 disabled in my system (by ipv6.disable=1 kernel option), so I would
expect ignoring the IPv6 stuff at all (even without using "-4" ping parameter
explicitly).

I did not see this behaviour in the previous ping version.

Regards
Zbynek

Bug#824606: Resolution request

2017-11-10 Thread Zbynek Michl
Dear Maintainers,

How does it look with fixing this issue? It is more than year from
reporting it here and nothing happened so far.

Could you fix it, please? Unfortunately there is no activity from the
upstream developers.

I believe that this FileChooser behaviour is really annoying for many
Debian users!

Thanks

Bug#755530: wordpress: Cannot upload an image into Media Library

2014-07-24 Thread Zbynek Michl
Hi,

I used standard configuration script from
/usr/share/doc/wordpress/examples/setup-mysql.gz.

This section is interesting:

echo Trying to create wp-content directory: $CONTENT
mkdir -p $CONTENT
ln -sf /var/lib/wordpress/wp-content/themes $CONTENT/themes
ln -sf /var/lib/wordpress/wp-content/plugins $CONTENT/plugins
ln -sf /var/lib/wordpress/wp-content/languages $CONTENT/languages
echo Setting up permissions
mkdir -p $CONTENT/blogs.dir $CONTENT/uploads
chown -R root:www-data $CONTENT/blogs.dir $CONTENT/uploads
chmod -R 0774 $CONTENT/blogs.dir $CONTENT/uploads

I do not understand, why themes, plugins and languages dirs are
symlinks, and for uploads and blogs.dir is created a directory.

If I have a look into wordpress_3.6.1+dfsg-1~deb7u3_all.deb package,
all five dirs are there with appropriate privilegies:

/var/lib/wordpress/wp-content/plugins
/var/lib/wordpress/wp-content/languages
/var/lib/wordpress/wp-content/themes
/var/lib/wordpress/wp-content/blogs.dir
/var/lib/wordpress/wp-content/uploads

So I would expect to make a symlinks to all these dirs from
/srv/www/wp-content/example.com/.

This is my working configuration:

$ ls -l /srv/www/wp-content/dracula/
total 0
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 39 Jul 21 21:10 blogs.dir -

Strangely enough, for a lot of people including myself its very
 possible.

If we setup symlink to /var/lib/wordpress/wp-content/uploads directory, then
the picture is uploaded and showed correctly, i. e. ln -s /var/lib/wordpress
 /wp-content/uploads /srv/www/wp-content/example.com/uploads.
That sounds like your configuration file is wrong.
Other than installing the package, what else did you do?
If it was your configuration, then that's not the package's fault but
if you ran some script supplied by the package, then it could be.

Bug#755530: wordpress: Cannot upload an image into Media Library

2014-07-21 Thread Zbynek Michl
Package: wordpress
Version: 3.6.1+dfsg-1~deb7u3
Severity: important

Hi there,

It is impossible to correctly upload an image into Media Library and use it
afterwards.

I tried to upload an image this way: Media - Add New - Select Files

The image will be uploaded in fact, but will not be showed in Wordpress.

Suggested solution:

Wordpress uploads it's pictures into the wrong directory (/srv/www/wp-
content/example.com/uploads) with insufficient read permittion.
If we setup symlink to /var/lib/wordpress/wp-content/uploads directory, then
the picture is uploaded and showed correctly, i. e. ln -s /var/lib/wordpress
/wp-content/uploads /srv/www/wp-content/example.com/uploads.

But this error I get only after fresh boot. After laptop waking up from suspend

work). I have tried also standard squeeze kernel linux-image-2.6.32-5-686, but
no luck :(

Bug#626287: mc: SHIFT+F6 should open rename dialog instead of delete dialog

2011-05-10 Thread Zbynek Michl
Package: mc
Version: 3:4.7.0.9-1
Severity: normal

When I press SHIFT+F6 key combination, I would expect it shows the rename
dialog with the name of the selected file/dir filled in.

Now it shows the delete dialog (as for the F8 key).

In Ubuntu (mc 3:4.7.0-1ubuntu2) it works fine :)

So it has been really caused by xserver-xorg-video-radeon. I have downgraded
from 6.13.0-2 to previous 6.12.6-1 and freezing gone :)

did you check with latest experimental intel driver?

I have tried the latest 2.6.34-1-686_2.6.34-1~experimental.2_i386 with no
 luck.

also we will shortly make 2.6.35-rcX available.
the old intel driver support is since some time messy, sorry for that.

Do you think intel driver in the kernel? Couldn't be there any connection with
x.org driver (xserver-xorg-video-radeon in my case)?

 Thanks,

 Hello,

I am experiencing the same problem in 2.6.32-5-686 and 2.6.34-1-686 on my Acer
laptop with i855 chipset. System freezes randomly as described by Eric. I
 guess
that 2.6.32-3-686 was fine, but I am not sure (have not this kernel anymore).

 Thanks,
 Zbynek

Bug#307096: Visible password

2010-06-04 Thread Zbynek Michl
You must not misuse option 'username' the way you do, it is for
 pam_mount only.

Hmm, I should read man page more carefully next time. So I used secrets file
instead. Thanks Werner! :)

Bug#307096: Visible password

2010-06-03 Thread Zbynek Michl
Hi there,

if I specify username as an option when mounting fs, then the password is
visible on screen when typing it.

Example:
# mount -t davfs -o username=myname https://myserver.cz/mydir /mnt/mnt/
  Password: mypassword
