Bug#916606: Possible cause

2019-02-07 Thread bitfreak25
Hi,

I want to mention that I there is still a patch here that prevents the
package from autoremoval on 22 February.

Maybe my last message was a bit confusing. The patch I've added removes
the random ingame pause.

Kind regards,
bitfreak25

I'm using an up-to-date Debian testing "Buster". The bug with the non working
playback of midi-files still exists.

Here is the requested output:

Thanks for your response.

Now I can play a mp3-File with both versions (1.2.2-1+b2 and 1.2.6). I don't
know what changed inbetween, but it works. There is also no difference if I
choose ALSA or Pulseaudio as module.

But there is still a bug when opening a midi file. Qmmp quits with "free():
double free detected in tcache 2". A backtrace is attached. I've also tested
with other midi files which have same behaviour.

Note:
I could still open the midi file with the program wildmidi directly.

Hi,

I've implemented the mentioned fix for DOSBox and it worked. (see added
diff-file) But I couldn't add the macro from the DOSBox diff, because it
doesn't work (don't know why). I'm also not very familiar with debian
packaging, so I expect the diff file wasn't created/applied correctly. But here
it is.

Bug#916606: (no subject)

2018-12-18 Thread bitfreak25
Hi,

I've tried to create a backtrace for further investigation. This was done by
setting a breakpoint at function client_set_pause() where the bug must occur.
Then I've started the game an tried to reproduce the bug (the unwanted pause).

After I've got into the bug I must kill the lbreakout2 process through tty.
Otherwise I've got a freezing display.

The created backtrace is attached.

Bug#916606: lbreakout2: randomly pauses ingame without external actions

2018-12-16 Thread bitfreak25
Package: lbreakout2
Version: 2.6.5-1+b2
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?

Starting a local game and play it for a while. At random times inside the game
the pause screen appears and the game stops. This happens in window and
full-screen mode.

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?
   * What was the outcome of this action?

When the pause screen appears I press "p" and could continue the game. After
some time (between milliseconds and seconds) the pause screen reappears, so I
must repeat pressing "p" to unpause the game. This repeats until I end the
game.

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

The game doesn't pause randomly.

Note:
Only keyboard and mouse is connected as input device. So the pause-signal
shouldn't come from another input device.

Sidenote:
On the source website http://lgames.sourceforge.net/LBreakout2/ you could read
"This game is no longer maintained. Please play the remake LBreakoutHD
instead.". So instead of solving this issue the related game "LBreakoutHD"
could be packaged instead.

Bug#916604: qmmp: sound files won't be played

2018-12-16 Thread bitfreak25
Package: qmmp
Version: 1.2.2-1+b2
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?

I try to play a sound file by using qmmp.

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?
   * What was the outcome of this action?

The program doesn't play the accessed sound file. The GUI is still reacting
after that, so the program doesn't crash itself.

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

The program plays the sound file.

Further information:
The output when opening an mp3-file in the command-line like "qmmp *.mp3" is
attached.

Bug#916595: vlc: program doesn't close its process in some cases

2018-12-16 Thread bitfreak25
Subject: vlc: program doesn't close its process in some cases
Package: vlc
Version: 3.0.4-4
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?

I tried to open and close some video files very often. I do this by opening the
file, watch it and close the program through the [x] in the gui or the xfce
panel before I watch another one. After some time I couldn't open a new video
file due to the still existing vlc process from the previous watched video
(using only one instance is configured).

It seems to be that music files (*.mp3) aren't affected by this bug. What files
are exactly affected or not isn't investigated yet.

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?
   * What was the outcome of this action?

My currently workaround is to kill the previous vlc process to go on. But this
isn't very comfortable.

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

The vlc process must close its running process in any case.

Further information:
The output of "vlc -vvv bbb_sunflower_1080p_30fps_normal.mp4" is attached.

Sidenote:
This bug also happens in the current Manjaro Stable, so Debian Testing seems to
be not the only affected distribution.

I've added a screenshot to this mail where you can see how it looks after the
update to v0.84.4. You can
compare it to previous screenshots at
https://screenshots.debian.net/package/synaptic to see the difference.

Bug#911501: synaptic: search button seems to be disappeared

2018-10-20 Thread bitfreak25
Package: synaptic
Version: 0.84.4
Severity: minor

Dear Maintainer,

after an update from synaptic 0.84.3 to 0.84.4 I couldn't find the search
button in the left corner. It just take some time to realize it moved into
the right corner (together with the options button).

This is very confusing for previous users like me. It is also inappropriate
for users with big sized displays where you need to move the mouse cursor
to the right corner and back, which takes a lot of time.

So please revert this change.

Bug#879524: [grub2-common] update-grub generates many invalid entries

2017-10-22 Thread bitfreak25
Package: grub2-common
Version: 2.02~beta3-5
Severity: normal

When calling "update-grub" it creates a grub.cfg that is aprox. 0,5 Mb large.

The most of the entrys seems to be invalid. This causes a unwanted timeout when
starting the computer. For many seconds there is a black-screen before the
grub-bootmenu is shown.

Partitions with OS:
/dev/sda1  ext4 -> Debian 9.2 (update-grub is called here)
/dev/sda4  ext4 -> Debian 9.2
/dev/sda7  ext4 -> Debian 8.7

When calling "update-grub" on the other two Debian-installations, I got a
similar behaviour. The MBR is currently written by the OS on "/dev/sda1"
through "grub-install".

Bug#879514: [installation-reports] hanging in state "update-grub" for 25 minutes

2017-10-22 Thread bitfreak25
Package: installation-reports

Boot method: USB-Drive
Image version: debian-9.2.0-amd64-DVD-1.iso
Date: 22.10.2017

Partitions:
/dev/sda1  ext4 -> existing Debian 9.2
/dev/sda4  ext4 -> destination for new Debian 9.2
/dev/sdb1  iso9660  -> USB-Drive
/dev/sda7  ext4 -> existing Debia 8.7

Comments/Problems:

During the installation of the grub-bootloader into the MBR of "/dev/sda", the
installation hangs for aprox. 25 minutes when "update-grub" is shown.

Here are parts of the log from "/var/log/install/syslog" that shows this
behaviour:

After the installation the grub-bootmenu needs some seconds longer to start but
it works as expected.
