The same problem occured on my installation of Debian 5 Lenny; this
bug blocks systems where unattended-upgrades is used.

Bug#472849: python-gst0.10 didn't solved this bug

Maybe your problem is related to python: try reinstalling every python
package alredy installed in your system. I was stuck in the same situation
after updating from a etch/lenny system to a pure lenny. Reinstalling python
packages resolved my issues with rhythmbox plugins.
