Bug#572419: mirror submission for mirror.bjtu.edu.cn

2011-05-01 Thread ideal
 Hi, Simon

We have set up push mirroring of debian.bjtu.edu.cn, and it works now.

The upstream is ftp.au.debian.org whose admin is Andrew Pollock (many
thanks to him).

Regards,

Shang

Bug#572419: mirror submission for mirror.bjtu.edu.cn

2011-03-16 Thread ideal
Hi,

When rsync from some European mirror like ftp.nl.debian.org or
ftp.se.debian.org, some times the connection timed out problem happened,
so I changed to ftp.au.debian.org, it becomes better now.

Thank you.

2011/3/3 ideal idealit...@gmail.com

 Hi,

 2011/3/3 Simon Paillard spaill...@debian.org

It was not my point, the first step is just to anonymously rsync from
ftp.nl.debian.org in IPv6 and see how fast it goes for you.

Sorry, I misunderstand that. Below is the result of anonymously rsync from
 ftp.nl.debian.org:

 sent 2998171 bytes received 22961640322 bytes 2803471.71 bytes/sec
total size is 528651406672 speedup is 23.02

Currently it rsync from ftp.nl.debian.org 5 time a day in crontab.

 Thank you.

Could you try with ftp.nl.debian.org ? It has IPv6 and is on the same

I will contact ftp.nl.debian.org asking for if it is ok being our upstream
push mirror.
Thanks!

Bug#572419: mirror submission for mirror.bjtu.edu.cn

2011-03-01 Thread ideal
Hi,

2011/3/2 Simon Paillard spaill...@debian.org

 Hi,

Please have a look at http://www.debian.org/mirrors/official#criteria
 (ftpsync + rsync + push)

 Last but not least:

 5. http://mirror.bjtu.edu.cn/debian/project/trace/debian.bjtu.edu.cn still
 says
 ftpsync is not used.

I have already configured ftpsync, since there's problem in push mirroring
between ftp.tw.debian.org,
I changed back using the old rsync script.

So is it possible to find an European debian mirror with IPv6 as our
upstream mirror? If it is OK, I can quickly
set up ftpsync + rsync + push.

Thank you.

6. http://mirror.bjtu.edu.cn/debian/project/trace/ 3 days late, but I guess
this is due to the slow network.

This is due to connection error with upstream ftp.se.debian.org.

  http://debian.bjtu.edu.cn/debian/project/trace/ shows that:
  - the mirror is up to date (great!)
  - ftpsync is not used (or something overwrites the local trace file)

What about this specific item ? Could you please check ?
 For reference, see http://www.debian.org/mirror/ftpmirror#how

Hi, do you mean that
http://mirror.bjtu.edu.cn/debian/project/trace/ftp.bjtu.edu.cn should
be http://mirror.bjtu.edu.cn/debian/project/trace/debian.bjtu.edu.cn ?

Hi, sorry for still have not fixed all problems until now. I can't set
up push mirroring successfully because ssh port 22 is blocked
by school firewall, I am solving this problem.

 http://debian.bjtu.edu.cn/debian/dists/unstable/ says:
 - you want to provide all architectures, correct ?

Yes, now exclude nothing.

2010-04-19 Thread ideal
Hi,

Sorry for not get it done for long time. We only mirrored i386 of
debian before, so I wanted to rsync from a host with quick network
speed, when it was done, then I chang it to push mirroring, and send a
mail to this bug address. But the disk space is not enough, and we
just added space, and other archtectures of debian are still in sync.

Thanks!

  in universities.

And that's not specific to China :-)

I am not sure whether add an field will lower the speed of DNS
parse when they can't use IPv6.

Well this is a tradeoff with making IPv4 or IPv6 choice seamless.

  And debian.bjtu.edu.cn is added now.

 $ host debian.bjtu.edu.cn
 Host debian.bjtu.edu.cn not found: 3(NXDOMAIN)

Maybe that is DNS cache problem?

Here is OK:

Thanks very much for submitting your Debian mirror.
Here are a few remarks before we can add your server to the list of
 Debian mirrors.

  Site: mirror.bjtu.edu.cn
  Aliases: mirror6.bjtu.edu.cn

 It is for ipv6.

 Aliases: ftp.bjtu.edu.cn

You may create a debian.bjtu.edu.cn, it will allow you to be more
flexile ina managing your Debian mirror.

Yes , I will create it.

  Type: leaf
  Archive-architecture: ALL alpha amd64 arm armel hppa hurd-i386 i386 ia64
 kfreebsd-amd64 kfreebsd-i386 m68k mips mipsel powerpc s390 sparc
  Archive-http: /debian/

Please switch to the recommended tool 'ftpsync':
 http://www.debian.org/mirror/ftpmirror#how

It is needed to ensure mirrors are doing the sync using the best method
for users, and provides us trace files to understand the status of the
 mirror.

Currently the mirror sync from a Taiwan mirror, and some architectures are
still not complete, it will be done in some days.

  IPv6: yes

Maybe add field to mirror.bjtu.edu.cn as well ?

The IPv6 address of this mirror is mirror6.bjtu.edu.cn.

  Archive-upstream: debian.nctu.edu.tw
  Updates: once

You may sync from ftp.tw.d.o (also known as debian.linux.org.tw)
instead, which has the advantage of being an official mirror.
The recommended method is to be pushed, so that you don't need to setup
any cron job, and you get archive updates as soon as they appear:
 http://www.debian.org/mirror/push_mirroring
Contact of ftp.tw.debian.org: Andrew Lee: andrew ATSIGN linux.org.tw

Thanks, I will do that.

  Maintainer: ideal idealit...@gmail.com
  Country: CN China
  Location: Beijing Jiaotong University
Comment: we will add CD/DVD images mirror and rsync.

How much bandwidth is available ?

It is 100Mbps.
