Perhaps it should be recommended or suggested. openssh-client provides ssh-keygen, which monkeysphere and monkeysphere-host both use for fingerprinting keys. (Other ssh components are used in the ssh-proxycommand and update-known_hosts subcommands, but those could reasonably fail with an informative error message if openssh-client were not installed). Bug#394935: seeing this also
I'm seeing this also, though for me it is a new install rather than an upgrade. I tried strace'ing the script and the suspicious line is: execve(/usr/sbin/slapcat, [/usr/sbin/slapcat, -f, /etc/ldap/slapd.conf, -b, dc=democracynow,dc=org, |, /bin/gzip], [/* 15 vars */]) = 0 It seems like for whatever reason, the | /bin/gzip is getting passed as arguments to slapcat rather than parsed by the shell. Setting compress=off in the task file allows the task to complete successfully, so this is indeed the problem. I looked quickly at the source and can't figure out what is wrong with it. If no one else can solve the problem, I will see if I can figure it out and provide a patch. thx, mike -- mike castleman staff hacker democracy now! mailto: tel:+1-212-431-9090 x803 -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#386074: tetex-base: please update version of xkeyval package
No, the workaround is to install XeTeX (together with the xkeyval version it is shipping) where every additional software should be installed: Either in /usr/local (so that xkeyval.sty gets into /usr/local/share/texmf/tex/latex/xkeyval/xkeyval.sty) or in $HOME. In both cases, the updated xkeyval package will take precedence over the one shipped with the Debian teTeX packages. Hm, for whatever reason this didn't happen for me. The xkeyval in Debian was taking precedence over the one in /usr/local, but I suppose that this could be an artifact of the rather strange packaging job that XeTeX did. I'm not going to worry about it too much. This won't happen, sorry. We usually wait for a new upstream release of teTeX (otherwise we'd have to start to maintain our own TeX distribution, instead of just packaging teTeX). However, teTeX has been abandoned upstream. It's successor, TeXLive, is also available in testing; maybe its version of xkeyval is sufficient. Understood. Thanks for your time, and for your quick response. mike -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact

Package: moreutils Version: 0.14 Severity: normal Tags: patch According to Debian Policy §11.4: every program that launches an editor or pager must use the EDITOR or PAGER environment variable to determine the editor or pager the user wishes to use. Bug#307329: sudo segfaults on first run
Package: sudo Version: 1.6.8p7-1 Severity: important Hi, sudo used to work fine for me, but since an upgrade, it has been segfaulting after it prompts for the password but before running the desired command. When the user has authenticated recently enough that the password is not needed, then sudo runs just fine. This may be related to the fact that I'm using LDAP for NSS and PAM (though no other applications seem to exhibit this behavior). I can try to help debug, but am not really sure even where to start looking. Another potential gotcha is that I am running on ppc, if that matters.
