Bug#532206: scilab gui does not wor

2009-12-14 Thread paul anthony
I had this problem in xmonad and got it working by adding:

   import XMonad.Hooks.SetWMName

   startupHook= setWMName LG3D

to the config file ~/.xmonad/xmonad.hs

Bug#520028: grub2: Grub MBR and Vista

2009-03-16 Thread Paul Anthony Judd
Package: grub2
Severity: minor

on page /usr/share/doc/grub-doc/html/grub_3.html#SEC7 it reports backing
up of mbr is not necessary as fdisk can be used on dos. Vista does not
have dos so the mbr backup method should be emphasized. I think the dd
if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sda bs=446 count=1 method blanks out mbr but not
sure if saved copy should be the 'dd' back.
I changed from dual boot vista debian to debian in vbox in vista but
made mistake of not removing grub from mbr and stage 1.5 halted. Tried
creating /boot/ partition on unallocated space (which windows always
has) and installed boot to get grub shell. From grub shell issued:
rootnoverify (hd0,0)
chainloader +1
boot
Had vista going again but had to locate a free vista recovery disc on
internet to reset mbr as command line no longer has fdisk in vista!

Bug#512073: konqueror: Kontact URL open with Konqueror gives crash report

2009-01-16 Thread Paul Anthony Judd
Package: konqueror
Version: 4:3.5.5a.dfsg.1-6etch2
Severity: minor

When clicking on URL in Kontact Mail and opening with default Konqueror,
I regularly get Konqueror crash report (see below) but I am still able
to view the page and follow links on it in new tab albeit I get another
identical crash report. Using TWM as KDE has become sluggish lately.
It appears embbeded animations are the cause.

Severity: normal

when I 'cd /dev' and './MAKEDEV -v ???' ???= rom OR sg OR usb

Do I need to do it with the above as well. Shouldn't makedev do this?

Package: openoffice.org-debian-files
Version: 1.1.3-8+1
Severity: grave
File: /usr/bin/openoffice
Justification: renders package unusable

Since performing an uprade two weeks ago open office does not start from
gnome menu nor debian menu. I've done two upgrade since and the problem

disappears but no openoffice eventuates.

2005-08-25 Thread Paul Anthony Judd
Package: mailx
Version: 1:8.1.2-0.20040524cvs-4
Severity: normal
File: /usr/bin/mail

f one uses fetchmail to get email to spool, then use mail to list emails
only then quit without viewing emails, only those displayed get saved to
spool, i.e 54 emailes retrieved by fetchmail, used mail to check list,
only 10 displayed and so only 10 saved to spool.Kmail or evolution will
only see the 10 saved. need to rerun fetchmail (none are fetched) for
clients to see the other unsaved emails.
