Bug#828965: FIX: Initial directory =
Dear Maintainers. Package: konsole Version: 4:16.04.2-1 The regression I've described seems to be fixed by setting 'Initial directory=' instead of 'Initial directory=/root' in the Settings > Manage profiles > edit form. This setting results in Directory= in the profile file reported below; invoking the profile does NOT hang konsole, which nicely starts a session in /root directory as expected (Apparently leaving empty the 'initial directory' field defaults to ~ of the new user, which is sensible.) I have no idea why Directory= and Directory=/root are NOT equivalent in this case, and why the problem is not reproduced. Thanks for your time ric $ cat .local/share/konsole/Root-Large-BRL.profile [Appearance] ColorScheme=BlackOnRandomLight Font=DejaVu Sans Mono,18,-1,2,50,0,0,0,0,0 [General] Command=/bin/su --login Directory= Name=Root-Large-BRL Parent=FALLBACK/ StartInCurrentSessionDir=false TerminalColumns=135 TerminalRows=17
Bug#828965: requested info
Dear Maximiliano, maintainers 1) I reproduced my problem in the same machine with another existing user and with a brand-new user: in both cases no "Password" prompt. As for the profile directory, all profiles are in .local/share/konsole/Root-Large-BRL.profile By mistake (sorry) I sent a relic profile file in my previous email but the contents are more or less equivalent: $cat .local/share/konsole/Root-Large-BRL.profile [Appearance] ColorScheme=BlackOnRandomLight Font=DejaVu Sans Mono,18,-1,2,50,0,0,0,0,0 [General] Command=/bin/su --login Directory=/root Name=Root-Large-BRL Parent=FALLBACK/ StartInCurrentSessionDir=false TerminalColumns=135 TerminalRows=17 2) As for pam, I have no custom settings in /etc/pam.d but I notice that some files have been changed few minutes after the start of my full-upgrade of 2016-06-28: # ls -lt /etc/pam.d/ total 120 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1234 Jun 28 11:48 common-session -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1154 Jun 28 11:48 common-session-noninteractive -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1480 Jun 28 11:48 common-password -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1208 Jun 28 11:48 common-account -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1249 Jun 28 11:48 common-auth ... the others are older... Dear maintainers The upgrade to the most updated versions did not change the issue. Bug#766958: [xserver-xorg-video-nv] WISH: make the package available for more architectures, at least i386
Package: xserver-xorg-video-nv Version: 1:2.1.20-3 WISH: make the package availble for more architectures, at least i386. Dear maintainers I'm the (sad) owner of an old laptop with a nvidia NV-28 graphic card (Dell Inspiron 8500, GeForce 4200, resolution up to 1900x1200). In spite of the optimistic claims on the xorg website [1], it turns out that nouveau is unusable with N28 (See [2], reported 2 years ago. I've reproduced the problems yesterday, with a freshly installed testing). Setting noaccel=1 or trying the driver modesetting [3] do not improve the situation (checked again yesterday). In my knowledge, the only options to keep a NV28 working on debian currently are: -1- To use nvidia-kernel-legacy-96xx-dkms for Wheezy (96.43.23) or for Squeeze -2- To use xserver-xorg-video-vesa, with any release. The former solution allows to use the 1900x1200 graphics and 3D acceleration, but implies to be stacked to Wheezy forever, because nvidia announced that 96xx will no more supported [4]. The latter solution, which I prefer, allows to evolute (and e.g. stay in testing) but does not allow to use high resolutions and 3D. I've seen that xserver-xorg-video-nv (no 3D but high resolution) came back in jessie for some architectures, so the natural wish would be to have it for more architectures (at least i386), if this is technically possible. Bug#706478: rygel: WHISH rygel should not listen on internet by default
Hello, I confirm: the origin of the automatic execution of rygel is the /usr/share/autostart/rygel.desktop file. A file .config/autostart/rygel.desktop with Hidden=true stops the automatic execution of rygel. All in all you might want to disable/delete the file /usr/share/autostart/rygel.desktop to avoid automatic execution of rygel (in kde at least). best, ric On Thu, May 2, 2013 at 6:11 PM, r ductor r.duc...@gmail.com wrote: After some inspection I guess that what automatically starts rygel for me is the following file. /usr/share/autostart/rygel.desktop that triggers the execution of rygel at each kde session. Bug#551462: grub-pc (.97~beta4-1 ): GRUB_DEFAULT=label ignored
Package: grub-pc Version:1.97~beta4-1 OS: Debian/unstable Wish: In the Bash 2 guide posted in ubuntu forums http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1195275 the option of /etc/default/boot GRUB_DEFAULT=menuentry-label is described in detail. Apparently a patch for that already exists in ubuntu: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+bug/431179 In my system the option GRUB_DEFAULT=menuentry-label is ignored, see my built grub.cfg Note that this is not a problem of spaces in the menu-entry name: set default=Microsoft Windows XP Professionnel (on /dev/hda1) because I used additional \ in the /etc/default/grub file. Having this option would be very useful for people that like me share their pc with windows-addict persons that are unable to choose an entry on the menu-list and need windows as default. As a temporary patch of course I can set GRUB_DEFAULT=4 but this will be destroyed at next kernel upgrade. (In Grub Legacy i used the default=saved but this seems still absent and more difficult to implement).
