Bug#704669: kdelibs-bin: unable to install kdelibs-bin=4:4.10.2-1 due to issues with kdelibs4c2a
Dear, you should change the breaks/replaces of kde4.10.2 in order to break kdelibs4c2a 4:3.5.10.dfsg.1-6~ so that a version -6~ won't conflict with the current kde. Please see the solution here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kde4libs/+bug/1100622 Thank you, Roberto Guerra -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#704669: kdelibs-bin: unable to install kdelibs-bin=4:4.10.2-1 due to issues with kdelibs4c2a
Hi, kdelibs4c2a is actually in debian squeeze: http://packages.debian.org/squeeze/kdelibs4c2a Some programs, like ktranslator, kcpuload, knetload, ksensors, and others (that still offer better functionality w.r.t. kde4 counterparts) need kdelibs4c2a. The only conflict is the presence of ktelnetservice and kmailservice files that is also present in kdelibs5-plugins. So a custom version of kdelibs4c2a definitely solves the issue. Again, this is the way the bug has been solved in ubuntu: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kde4libs/+bug/1100622 so it's possible and it works fine (tested). There is no kdelibs4c2a in the Debian archive anymore, so there is no way kdelibs4c2a can be fixed in Debian. Limiting the breaks to a specific version which does not exists in Debian gives zero guarantees that such versions will actually fix the issue. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#673192: R: Re: Bug#673192: R: Re: Bug#673192: systemd does not allow suspend to ram
Btw, I'm on linux because I can control the system at each level, if I wanted a dumb (and locked) ready-to-use system I'd go on a mac. I use to perform some heavy calculation sometimes that raise the system temperature. Then I have to limit the frequency in order to avoid overheating. In addition I don't see why I have to open the systemsettings just to switch powersaving profile. The fact that there is nothing like kpowersave in kde4 is a severe regression, imho. On ven 18 mag 2012, robert...@libero.it wrote: Dear Michael, just to check I removed the /etc/init.d/hal script and rebooted; the system still refuses to suspend even if kpowersave is not loaded Can you tell me what I should do to make kde suspend work? All the packages are updated to the latest sid. Thank you, Roberto Btw, I don't say this as someone helping with systemd, but as the maintainer of hal (and its successors) and the previous maintainer of kpowersave. You really should upgrade. The integrated powermanagement application in KDE4 is really good and the ondemand cpufreq scheduler is so good nowadays that you shouldn't need to fiddle with the cpu frequencies anymore. Michael On ven 18 mag 2012, you wrote: On 18.05.2012 17:58, Michael Biebl wrote: The problem is, that kpowersave is buggy. It should trigger hal via D-Bus activation, which it doesn't do. That means, hal is not started and so kpowersave doesn't allow you to suspend. That and the fact that kpowersave is not supported anymore. kpowersave was removed from the archive for a reason. If you insist on keeping using hal, you need to create corresponding start symlinks in multi-user.target.wants yourself. This is not something we support any longer. Bug#673192: R: Re: Bug#673192: R: Re: Bug#673192: systemd does not allow suspend to ram
I don't have a heavily tweaked system: the only thing I had to make kpowersave work is to have hald running. I can launch it by an init script or by a simple 'sudo hald'. The hald daemon is just that from the installed hal_0.5.14-8 package. This is not a tweak. The problem is that kde is perfectly able to suspend the system from the kmenu button when systemd is not installed but not otherwise. Also the bluetooth is not working with systemd, is this possibily connected? What is the executable of powerdevil? Thank you, Roberto p.s.: good news that now we finally have plasmoid to do the task. No problem to switch to that when all works. Not with this little information. You seem to have a heavily tweaked system. Bug#673192: R: Re: Bug#673192: R: Re: Bug#673192: systemd does not allow suspend to ram
that was the problem! now kde suspends well. I see that kde-workspace-bin recommends upower but does not depends on it. This should be changed maybe? B.t.w. kpowersave still works when hald is running; it seems that this is not conflicting at all. Anyway I'll take a look to the new plasmoids... thank you very much, Roberto On ven 18 mag 2012, Michael Biebl wrote: On 18.05.2012 21:11, robert...@libero.it wrote: attached.
