Bug#441622: (no subject)
It seems like part of the reason why this package hasn't been updated is that the chosen upstream source ( http://flag.blackened.net/intanark/faq/mirror.html ) hasn't been updated since the sid version. http://anarchism.ws/faq/ contains an 'easy' to copy version that is more recent, but even that is out of date, but it would be a nice first step -themusicgod1 -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#508614: How it was fixed
My video card setup is finally working! Although I was trying an awful lot, and it's possible something else I did fixed things, here are the steps which I suspect caused my system to be in a state where Xorg successfully loads. 1) uninstalled all xorg packages 2) tried installing just the core packages, including intel and i810 drivers 3) creating my own xorg.conf file (since the automagic generation wasn't happening) 4) restarting the computer(!?) 5) this got a GUI, from which a proper screen resolution could be set Something tells me #4 was the real key to fixing *my* problem HOWEVER 1) this is a clean lenny install. Not generating a xorg.conf for an Intel 82845G/GL, apparently a common motherboard video card isn't a good thing. 2) Changing screen resolution causing a crash is a bug, although not as bad as #1 3) Requiring a restart of the computer to continue is worse than #2, but not as bad as #1. Since it is a recoverable one. Xorg.conf attatched Jeff Cliff -- # Don't let Canada get a DMCA xorg.conf Description: Binary data

Bug#508614: fatal server error: lockup after changing screen resolutions
Package: xserver-xorg Version: 1.7.3+18 brand new lenny install disk, ran the install, 1) didn't give the option for desktop in tasksel, only 'standard' system. meh 2) installed up to date xserver-xorg 3) ran gdm / gnome, got me to the login screen, and as others have been complaining about it was at the 'default' what, 640x480 resolution or something low(never got to find out what), went to change the resoultion in the gnome resolution changer, changed it to something higher...it was too high and the screen went all wacky. No problem --i could see the menu saying 'press this button or screen resolution will be reverted in 14...13...' countdown finished, tried to revert...black screen. Since that point I have gotten nothing but black screens. Went into xorg.conf...it was 'empty'-- no drivers listed, no screens listed. Tried adding a few, results in : ... Bug#360847: knights doesn't let you continue to install if you don't agree to the GPL
Package: knights Version: 0.6-6 Severity: normal Knights asks whether or not you agree to the GPL on startup the first time it is executed after install. It refuses to continue configuration until YES is accepted; You do not have to agree to the GPL in order to use GPL'd software; but agreeing to the GPL enables you to do such things as copying, etc. (See GPL section 5). This should be addressed, and made clear somewhere. Bug#354160: springgraph: during crash, weeks or months of work lost
Package: springgraph Version: 0.82-5 Severity: minor (Apologies if this bug report is a duplicate, my mta was borked) I recently completed a rather large springgraph picture ( 19518x18894 ) from a rather large .dot file, which took around 33 days to complete. Now, the picture turned out OK, thankfully, since I didn't run out ram, have the power cut out, have my operating system crash, and so on and so forth. In a perfect world, we'd all have an infinite amount of ram+swap, perfectly stable operating systems, userspaces, springgraph, and power companies, but since we don't live in such a world there's a significant chance that during a really long haul, springgraph for some reason be stopped, and all the work done towards making a picture (in my case, a month), would be lost. Would it be possible, even if as a commandline option, for there to be data saved in a temp file somewhere, every 500 iterations or so, so that in the case of a crash or something, that springgraph could reload said temp file, and continue with a rather large data set? Springgraph is an impressive tool, but such a feature might make it a little bit more robust and usable. Keep up the good work Jeffrey Cliff [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.livejournal.com/users/themusicgod1 -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.8-2-386 Locale: LANG=en_CA, LC_CTYPE=en_CA (charmap=ISO-8859-1) Versions of packages springgraph depends on: ii libgd-gd2-noxpm-perl 1:2.30-1 Perl module wrapper for libgd - gd ii perl 5.8.8-2Larry Wall's Practical Extraction springgraph recommends no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe.
