Bug#430289: klineakconfig always segfaults on D810

2007-06-23 Thread xavier . gnata
Subject: klineakconfig always segfaults D810
Package: klineakconfig
Version: 0.9-5
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Hi,

I'm using a dell810 and I habe already seen klineakconfig running on this
machine but if a try to install klineadconfig from scratch, klineakconfig
always crashes.
Using gdb, I get this (no debug so not so informative :()
Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.
[Switching to Thread -1232660256 (LWP 16905)]
0xb78af1f2 in KCmdLineArgs::parseAllArgs () from /usr/lib/libkdecore.so.4
(gdb)

I have remove *all* the lineak related files and reinstall all of them but
the bug is still here.

The ugliness is not the problem. From the ATI license:

with the Linux operating system (ATI Linux Code), you may use, display,

package such ATI Linux Code for commercial and non-commercial purposes,

way;

Debian cannot distribute patched binaries. Users will have to apply
those patches themselves until ATI releases a fixed driver.

 Ciao, Flavio

Hi,

That's right :(
Now, we only have to wait until ATI releases a fixed driver.

Please consider these two hacks:

http://www.rage3d.com/board/showthread.php?t=33889029

They are ugly but flgrx works again.
It looks it is not possible to have a cleaner solution without the help of ATI.
We do not have the sources of the broken .so and there is no higher level way
to fix xorg version detection logic.

Subject: fglrx-driver: flgrx fully broken by new xorg versioning policy
Package: fglrx-driver
Version: 8.28.8-4
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

*** Please type your report below this line ***
Hi,

fglrx now fails to load because /usr/bin/Xorg -version answers 1.3.0 (I used to
answer 7.1.0). See http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=420306 to
unserstand that it is not a bug but a better versioning policy.
However, it prevents fglrx to work :
(II) LoadModule: fglrx
(II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers//fglrx_drv.so
(II) Module fglrx: vendor=FireGL - ATI Technologies Inc.
compiled for 7.1.0, module version = 8.28.8
Module class: X.Org Video Driver
ABI class: X.Org Video Driver, version 1.0
[R200Setup] X version mismatch - detected X.org 1.3.0.0, required X.org 7.1.0.0
(II) UnloadModule: fglrx
(II) Unloading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers//fglrx_drv.so
(EE) Failed to load module fglrx (module requirement mismatch, 0)

I cannot see a simple patch to solve the pb for now :(

BTW, I have also tried this an up to date fglrx driver and the pb is the same.

Bug#326440: wx2.6-headers: wxPython headers not included in package

2007-01-30 Thread xavier . gnata
Hi,

I (or let say we) really need these headers files to compile some python
modules which are not part of debian.

For now, I have a stupid workaround (just copy the missing files from another
source).

Ok, the python modules I'm was talking about are not part of Debian but
providing such a wx package with missing headers files is just pointless.

 OK,

Perhaps you were trying vtk 4.4.2 and filed
a duplicate of bug #379240? Your bug report
doesn't say, but since 5.0.1 is still new,
I am guessing that you saw the bug on version
 4.4.2-10.

Bug#363944: libmotif-dev

2006-07-03 Thread xavier . gnata

As you know, libmotif-dev is not sid installable because it conflicts
  with conflicts with x11-common.

 Yep.

You said (Wed, 14 Jun 2006) you have a way to fix that bug.

Well, there is a patch in the BTS.

I really would enjoy to see the fix in debian.

 Same here.

Did you get an answer from Gerd Knorr ?

 Nope.

If the patch is small egough, can you please post it here and/or in
  the debian BTS.

The patch is already there, and I can NMU if there's interest.

Well, the bug is 74 days old and you have a good patch so please MMU.
People who have old openmotif apps to recompile would be very happy to see this
bug close ;)

Thanks,
Xavier.

What is the best way to remove *all* the eclipse and java related files
 from my
box (packages but also .eclipse and so on). I would like to do as clean as
possbile install of eclipse (I would like to be sure there is no crappy
 file in
  my eclipse install).

The versions '0.0.0' look really suspicious. They are either cached in
~/.eclipse or ~/workspace/.metadata. As you have already tried to remove
the ~/.eclipse dir I guess its the later.

Can you please try to rename your ~/workspace dir for testing purposes?
(And rename ~/.eclipse at the same time too to have a clean start).

If this bug is related to a crappy file which is not under control of
 eclipse
packages, I do apologize for the noise.

That is okay. Others might have the same problems when using eclipse. I
still have a bad feeling that this bug is related to an XML handling bug in
 libgcj6.

 Cheers,
 Michael

Hi,

Sorry but I have once again remove and purged *all* the eclipse related packages
(all eclipse + gcj and gij) than rm -rf ~/workspace and rm -rf ~/.eclipse and
then reinstall eclipse and it works.
I'm have no clue where the problem was because I have not change anything else.
I'm not sure if it was noise or not...

and of courses it still crashes.

I'm running a basic i386 under an daily updated sid.

I hope it is not only much ado about nothing because I used to use sun jre.
I still have libjavaplugin_oji.so for instance (and firefox java plugin works
just fine.)
I have installed sun jre building these 2 pacakges :
sun-j2re1.5_1.5.0+update05_i386.deb + sun-j2sdk1.5_1.5.0+update05_i386.deb
There are unoffical ones but it was prior gcj arrives.

Then, I have only apt-get install eclipse.

I hope this helps

Xavier.
