Yes I do. Rebooting does not help either. Nothing I do make the icon become visible. Did it work with older versions of network-manager-gnome? What desktop environment are you using? Is gnome-icon-theme installed? If you start nm-applet from the command line, do you get any error message or are there error messages in .xsession-errors? It did work for a while after I installed Squeeze the 20th of march. And since I'm current on the apt updates I might have updated that package too since then. What desktop environment are you using? Gnome: Installed: 1:2.24.3~2squeeze1 Is gnome-icon-theme installed? gnome-icon-theme: Installed: 2.26.0-1 Hm, I'm running out of ideas what could be the problem. Could you try with a fresh user account. Is maybe the notification area missing in the panel? severity 535059 minor tags 535059 unreproducible thanks Stine Kristiansen wrote: 2009/7/14 Michael Biebl bi...@debian.org: Hm, I'm running out of ideas what could be the problem. Could you try with a fresh user account. Is maybe the notification area missing in the panel? I did - and it did show up. And gave me an idea - so now I have a consistent way of making it dissapear and come back. 1) I set my panel to right orientation - and perhaps also with a width of 105px, expand on, autohide and show hide-buttons both off. 2) Log out and in again - and the icon is invisible in the vertical panel. 3) Change the panel orientation to top and the icon become visible. 4) If you now make the panel orientation right again the icon is still visible. FYI: gnome-panel: Installed: 2.24.3-1+b1 I can not reproduce the problem with the procedure you described. But then I am using unstable and gnome 2.26, which makes me believe that it's a gnome-panel bug after all. Maybe it's possible that you upgrade to the latest version in unstable and test again.
