In Ubuntu, we've applied the attached patch to achieve the following:

  * Sync on debian (LP: #400102)  
  * Applied a patch from gentoo to fix FTBFS with GCC 4.4

We thought you might be interested in doing the same.

The patch has already been reported upstream and is fixed in upstream
SVN. It will be part of the next upstream release.
