Bug#549202: mc does not use sensible-editor if $EDITOR is not defined

2009-10-01 Thread Wookey
Package: mc
Version: 2:4.7.0-pre1-3
Severity: normal

if:
update-alternatives is set to use a particular editor (jed)
mc is set to use external editor
$EDITOR is not set to anything
then
editing a file in mc runs vi

if $EDITOR is now set, then
editing a file in mc runs the editor specified in $EDITOR

On a debian system mc should fall back to use 'sensible-editor' or
'editor', when $EDITOR is not set, thus respecting the alternatives mechansim.

It should only fall back to 'vi' as last resort if 'sensible-editor'
fails.

Thanx for your work on mc - it really is appreciated.
