Bug#576376: wpasupplicant: should not start if no wlan device is present

2010-04-04 Thread arne anka

No it does not, Prove it.

excuse me? what do you want: come over and i show it to you?

- the only thing starting wpa_supplicant i can find is the script mentioned
- ifconfig does not enumerate a single wlan device
- ps ax lists wpa_supplicant
$ ps ax | grep wpa_supplicant
 7949 ?S  0:00 /sbin/wpa_supplicant -u -s

do you have maybe more helpful comments?

Some data that supports the statement made in the initial bug report. None
was provided.

 - the only thing starting wpa_supplicant i can find is the script
 mentioned

D-Bus is also able to start wpa_supplicant.

 - ifconfig does not enumerate a single wlan device

wpa_supplicant is not just for wireless devices.

 - ps ax lists wpa_supplicant
 $ ps ax | grep wpa_supplicant
   7949 ?S  0:00 /sbin/wpa_supplicant -u -s

That process was started via D-Bus service activation (note the -u option)
- most likely by NetworkManager. It was definitely not started via the
ifupdown shell scripts.

 do you have maybe more helpful comments?

Closing the bug report, it is invalid.

Kel.
