Bug#612988: RFA: amara -- Amara is a pythonic XML toolkit

2011-09-10 Thread Jakub Wilk

* David Villa Alises david.vi...@uclm.es, 2011-02-12, 05:11:

Amara is very heavy and it has very few users. There are more suitable
alternatives for XML parsing already in Debian (like python-lxml).

I request an adopter for the amara package, or removing as well.

After 6 months, it doesn't look like anybody is going to adopt this
package. Are you OK with removing it from the archive?

Bug#612988: RFA: amara -- Amara is a pythonic XML toolkit

2011-02-11 Thread David Villa Alises
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

Amara is very heavy and it has very few users. There are more suitable
alternatives for XML parsing already in Debian (like python-lxml).

I request an adopter for the amara package, or removing as well.

The package description is:
Amara XML toolkit is an open-source collection of Python tools for
XML processing, not just tools that happen to be written in Python,
but tools built from the ground up to use Python idioms and take
advantage of the many advantages of Python over other programming
 languages.
 .
Amara builds on 4Suite, but whereas 4Suite focuses more on literal
implementation of XML standards in Python, Amara adds a much more
 Pythonic face to these capabilities.
 .
Amara provides tools you can trust to conform with XML standards
without losing the familiar Python feel.
