Well, upstream wants to remove the problematic part completely, which
seems like a good thing. However, since this is not done yet, I would
suggest applying the proposed patches to the debian packages
nevertheless, because they are not wrong and can be dropped with the
next upstream release when the problematic patch has been removed.

can assist you with.

The package looks good (i.e. it builds with both libav9 and 10), so I uploaded

Dear maintainer, I'm writing you because your package is part of the upcoming libav10 transtion, and this bug is blocking its progress, see Julien's reply to my latest inquiry: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=740210#22 Please note that Julien requests all packages to be fixed before starting this transition. That means that libav10 will not be in unstable before this bug is fixed. Note that according to previous messages in this bug, this particular issue has already been fixed either upstream or a patch fixing this has been attached in a previous message. Therefore, please do not hesitate to fix this bug by uploading a new version of this package with a fix for this bug included to debian/experimental so that you can build-depend against the libav (= 6:10~).
