Bug#850773: xul-ext-kwallet5: Doesn't work with firefox "non-ESR"

2017-06-17 Thread Legimet
My system just updated to Firefox 52.2.0, and passwords are no longer
autofilled. I found that after installing version 1.3 (from AMO), it works as
expected. The only issue is finding the source code. There is an SVN repo, but
it doesn't have the latest version. I tried contacting the author, but the
CAPTCHA on the contact page is broken.

Hey,

mmh very interessting. Can you try to inform upstream about this issue?
Codewise I can't see why the autofill chagnes with the plugin.

Best Regards,

Thanks for your help. I installed the same firefox on another computer,
without the kwallet plugin. There are at least some sites that autofill
username and passwords without the kwallet plugin, but don't work with
the plugin.

For example, https://www.powells.com/login . I can confirm that on both
machines (the kwallet machine and the non-kwallet machine), I have a
stored username/password that can be viewed on the preferences screen.
They autofill on the non-kwallet machine. They do not autofill on the
kwallet machine.

this firefox addon only replaces the internal storage of passwords from the
internal storage to kwallet. The detection of what field to automatically fill
is out of scope of this plugin and a bug of firefox itself. You can see this,
if you disable the plugin, firefox will still don't autofill your passwords for
these specific sites. In my case the autofill works for most sites, but
unfortunately not for all. If the autofill works without kwallet plugin but
don't with kwallet, that it make sense to look at it closer.

It doesn't look like manually updating to the current version
of the addon (1.3) helps either.

Have you tried that?

Package: xul-ext-kwallet5

Dear Maintainer,

I tried installing the "firefox" package. I am able to look up my
passwords manually at about:preferences#security, but they are not
automatically filled into forms, or added/updated when visiting new
websites.

Thanks for your help!
