Thank you so much for maintaining gddrescue which has helped me rescue
failing disks quite a few times.
GNU ddrescue 1.26 has been released, and it would be really nice if you
could upgrade the Debian packaging from 1.23 to 1.26 at your

Changes in version 1.24:
* The new option '--command-mode' has been added. It activates a scripting
interface similar to the one of ed which reads commands from the standard
input and executes them, copying parts of the input file on demand.
* Ddrescue now tries to create a backup copy of the mapfile, with the name
.bak, every time it is going to overwrite a fsynced mapfile.
On startup, ddrescue verifies that the backup mapfile (if it exists) is
not a non-regular file, and that its name is not the same as infile or
outfile.
* It has been documented that when ddrescue finishes, the contents of any
areas marked as bad-sector remain untouched in the output file.
* The configure script now accepts appending options to CXXFLAGS using the
syntax 'CXXFLAGS+=OPTIONS'.
Changes in version 1.25:
* Default constructors have been added to classes Block and Sblock.

* A failure in 'make check', happening when testing under a directory
with spaces in the name, has been fixed. (Reported by David Morrison).
* In rescue mode, any non-finished subsector that is now found during the
initial read of the mapfile will be joined to its corresponding sector
(if it is also not finished), marking the whole sector with the less
processed state, so as to make sure that sub-sector data will not be
discarded from a successful read during the rescue. (A subsector is
a block smaller than the sector size). (Reported by David Burton).
* The time needed to write the mapfile is now excluded from the mapfile
save and sync intervals. (It seems that some mapfiles take 7 seconds
to write). (Reported by David Burton).
* Ddrescue now extends the output file using 'ftruncate' if it works,
because it is slightly more efficient.
* Large numbers in messages (like device sizes) are now printed in groups
of 3 digits separated by underscore '_' characters to make them more
readable.
Changes in version 1.26:
* While writing the mapfile, ddrescue now checks the return value of each
call to 'fprintf' to catch any temporary failure of 'fprintf' not
reported by the system when closing the file. (Hole in mapfile reported
by Radomír Tomis).
* Domain mapfiles may now contain unordered and overlapping blocks when
'-L, --loose-domain' is specified as long as no block overlaps with
other block of different status.

* Ddrescue now shows the file name in all the diagnostics with a file
involved. (Reported by Radomír Tomis).
* Ddrescue now exits with status 1 on fatal read errors. (Suggested by
Marco Marques).
* Empty phases are now completely skipped.
* Ddrescue now scrolls forward after each pass. This keeps on the screen
the final status of the previous pass, making it easier to estimate the
amount of work done by the current pass.

* In case of error in a numerical argument to a command line option,
ddrescue now shows the name of the option and the range of valid values.
* The option synonyms '--*-logfile' and '--pause' have been removed and
are no longer recognized.
* Ddrescuelog now can convert between mapfiles and bitmaps of blocks
(big and little endian). The new option '-F, --format' has been added
to ddrescuelog. It selects the input format for '--create-mapfile',
or the output format for '--list-blocks'. (Bitmap format proposed by
Florian Sedivy).
* Option '-d, --delete-if-done' of ddrescuelog no longer returns an error
if the mapfile is read from standard input. Instead it behaves like
'-D, --done-status' because there is nothing to delete.
* 'ddrescuelog --show-status' now rounds percentages up to get the sum
closer to 100%.
* Three missing '#include ' have been added.
