As far as I can tell from online datasheets, the possible processor types that the Dell Studio 1555 can accept had no microcode changes. This means it was likely the fact that your initramfs changed that caused issues, not the intel-microcode *contents*. First, I need the output of these commands, please run them as root. They will not modify your system. They will tell me the microcode contents of your initramfs, your processor type, as well as the way intel-microcode is supposed to update the initramfs. du -sh /boot iucode_tool -Sv iucode-tool -tr -Lv /boot/initrd.img* cat /etc/default/intel-microcode dpkg -s initramfs-tools dracut Thank you... -- Henrique Holschuh
