When copying files remotely using fish, if the local temporary directory fills up, the copy fails saying that there is no disk space to copy the file. This is somewhat confusing since the target may well have plenty of space. This isn’t helped by the fact that fish keeps its local copies even when they have been transferred to the remote. Thus copying a set of files larger than the available disk space on the local temporary file system is guaranteed to fail, even if the files are individually small enough to fit in the local temporary directory. (The failure isn’t drastic: only the last copied file is affected, and another copy can be started to continue copying.)
