It seems the libwnck developers consider this to be a bug in mate-panel: the previous libwnck behaviour was not consistent with GTK's API requirements, causing warnings from GTK. https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-panel/-/commit/dc1100165a840c39b4acd6fb533373e5f7594910 seems to be the fix for an equivalent bug in gnome-panel. smcv
