Tried upgrading to backports as suggested in Debian Wiki: https://wiki.debian.org/ZFS#Installation and issue seems to be fixed there. Using version (2.2.2-3~bpo12+1)
After: apt install -t bookworm-backports zfsutils-linux zfs-dkms DKMS module builds for both 6.1.0-15-amd64 and 6.1.0-17-amd64 succeeded.
