Thank you for your suggestion and sorry for not replying sooner.
While your idea is good, we have decided not to implement your
suggestion fully at the current time. However, we have implemented some
of your ideas (namely letting other variables depend on the
Package: tomcat4
Version: 4.1.31-2
Severity: wishlist
Tags: patch
It would be great to have the init.d script to actually get the NAME
variable from the file name instead of being hardcoded into the script.
Setting NAME=`basename $0` should do the trick.
It is useful to manage different instances
