Hello, I think the problem is fixed in the current CVS version of the Midnight Commander. I have uploaded the current CVS version to http://www.roland-illig.de/tmp/mc-4.6.1a.tar.bz2 . Please try it. The behaviour should be that mc silently closes the X11 connection as soon as an error occurs.
