I observe that upstream distribute different versions for x86 and amd64, direct installation of the amd64 version from upstream solves this bug. Possibly we need to have architecture specific version of this package? (we may already have this in unstable, but if so the I can't find any definitive evidence of this due to packages.debian.org being down)
