Package: helix-player Version: 1.0.4-1sarge1 Severity: normal On visiting http://www.wdr.de/tv/monitor/real.phtml with Mozilla Firefox and clicking on "abspielen" (play), no movie is shown - instead an error message box is presented:
"Component Missing The player does not have the capabilities to play back this content. [Check for Updates...] [Details...] [Help] [OK]" Clicking on "Check for Updates..." leads to the page http://www.real.com/linux, that promotes non-free software to play the movie. One can download an i386 binary (no link to any other platform nor source code) and that's it. If helix-player cannot support the movie format, that's OK, but a Debian package should not promote download non-free software from a third party, IMHO. Plus: without any notice, that this is not part of Debian, and that Debian cannot ensure security for such software, etc. -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.8-2-k7 Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968) Versions of packages helix-player depends on: ii libatk1.0-0 1.10.1-2 The ATK accessibility toolkit ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-22 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libglib2.0-0 2.6.4-1 The GLib library of C routines ii libgtk2.0-0 2.6.4-3 The GTK+ graphical user interface ii libpango1.0-0 1.8.2-1 Layout and rendering of internatio ii libstdc++5 1:3.3.5-13 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii libx11-6 4.3.0.dfsg.1-14sarge1 X Window System protocol client li ii libxext6 4.3.0.dfsg.1-14sarge1 X Window System miscellaneous exte ii libxv1 4.3.0.dfsg.1-14sarge1 X Window System video extension li ii xlibs 4.3.0.dfsg.1-14sarge1 X Keyboard Extension (XKB) configu -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
