Hi,

I tried to rebuild an older upstream version of imagemagic I got from

http://snapshot.debian.net/archive/2005/08/09/debian/pool/main/i/imagemagick/imagemagick_6.2.3.6-3.diff.gz

http://snapshot.debian.net/archive/2005/08/09/debian/pool/main/i/imagemagick/imagemagick_6.2.3.6.orig.tar.gz

http://snapshot.debian.net/archive/2005/08/09/debian/pool/main/i/imagemagick/imagemagick_6.2.3.6-3.dsc

Because I'm sure that I used the script in question in October this year
successfully and I'm nearly sure that I used the ImageMagic version from
above for this script I thought this should work nicely. Strangely enough
I was able to reproduce the reported problem also with this older version.

This lets me think twice about the text I quoted in my bug report:

... you can specify these standard X resources as command line options:
  -background, -bordercolor, -borderwidth, ...

It seems that the problem might lay below the surface of montage and that
an upgraded X server might cause the trouble. On the other hand montage
should be able to work also with more recent X servers and thus the bug
report for montage is as valid as it was. It is just that not a change
of the code of montage seems to be the reason for the problem but that
this code uses a feature of X that is not available in every case and that
a workaround / fallback has to be implemented.

Kind regards

        Andreas.
